Stumbled across an order (AP3392, Vol 2, Chap 2, Lft 529) about Q-BTEC-H & Q-BTEC-H(S), it's a Q given for personnel that hold an HNC or HND that you have to apply for. The order says something about certain jobs that are technically demanding are annotated as requiring suitably qualified personnel with said Q's. Anyone know of any posts and is it worth applying for this Q? Experience says not, sticking one's head above the parapet is not a good thing!

I got this Q when it first came out in the late '80's/early '90's. The only benefit it gave me was when I applied for an AIP on my pay a few years later when Pay 2000 came in - something the certificate itself would have got me anyway, it certainly didn't lead to any technically demanding post outside the range of normal ones that anyone else could get. :PDT_Xtremez_41:

I'm fairly sure that Manning take all Q annotions including BTECH-H and/or BTECH-H(S) when posting into slots. When trawling for volunteers, having Q-BTECH-H/H(S) have occasionally been listed as pre-requisites. Manning usually do the first sift and this will be based solely on information held on JPA.

Is this Q only for HNC/HND qualifications that have been gained during your time in the service?

The Lft speaks specifically about qualifications gained since Advanced Further Training was stopped and ones gained through individuals doing it off their own back, so that must be from around early 2000'ish onwards?

I obtained Q-BTEC-H through doing AFT (CN 1224/7) in '98-'99. RAF career-wise I would say it has been of absolutely no use to me whatsoever. However the HNC enabled me to register as IEng, so some good came out of it!
