As I'm not on or near a military unit, I don't know if we are having a gash day off for HM's birthday. As I'm getting old I can't remember if we had one last year!

I've had a quick look on t'intranet, even looking at some SROs from a few units, but can't find anything.

Can anyone confirm whether we/you are getting an extra day off for the Queen's Birthday?

Not on the cards...

Not on the cards...

I believe the Civil Service have a Sovereigns Birthday Privilege Day, which looks like it's 28 May 10.

Service personnel, as far as I am aware, are not entitled to it.

May be that the person in charge may give it as stand-down if you work at a predominantly civvy establishment?

I've never heard of a day off for HM's birthday in my 20 years serving. Personally I don't know or even care when it is

Yeah, I work with civil serpents and they are all getting a day off. Ah well, no worries, at least they give me plenty of gym time off and buy me beer at Xmas!

A pint off the civvies? You lucky barsteward!!! :0

It's not a bad life being the only military guy amongst all these civvies. The bosses buy the first few bottles of wine at the Xmas lunch - which rolls into the Xmas supper! They also buy all staff a little Xmas pressie, which in my case is always alcohol related. A nice gesture, especially as they are aware that I earn a fair bit more than them.

I have also negotiated my own working hours and gym time - which is why you'll never get me after 4pm (1pm Tue & Thu).

Then again, I get no happy hours at the bar, no section p1ss-ups, reduced banter and I have to watch my language - a bit! Not a bad trade off really.

As you are soooooooo good and get no social mess life, take two days off. How about 19 & 20 June? See your Chf Clk - but not on a Tues or Thurs afternoon, nor after 4pm any other day.....

Youve obviously been at the wrong units we got it at Halton early 90's and on Pompey and in Cyprus. It is CO's discretion and used to be added to the late May BH so Monday and Tues. Dont know this year though

I was informed that we do get the holiday but it is included within our annual allowance of 38 days.
Iam sure a well versed scribbly could confirm it though
