Seasons Greetings to one and all

My posting date is the same date that I start a short course (9 days) so I will not arrive at my new unit until after the course. I will be getting home to duty but I was wondering what will happen with this course getting in the way and whether I will continue to get home to duty when away at my course?

My guess is that when I arrive and the clerk does the arrival process it wil all catch me up in my pay?

I am visiting a few weeks before my posting date - would it be worth trying to do the paperwork then so as to try and avoid any pay problems?

They won't change my posting date by the way.

Hey there,

If your HTD stops, you will receive GYH(T) in its place. The GYH mileage will be from the location of your course to your parent unit so if you look up the rates in JSP 752 you should be able to see how much you will get instead of HTD. If your course is 2 working weeks with a weekend in between your HTD will stop.

Cheers Sammy. The course is just short of the 2 working weeks so I guess I will just keep the HTD?

You haven't given enough detail for any advice to be completely reliable. It depends where you are posted from/to, where your course is, where you live, and whether you will be living in at your temporary duty unit or travelling daily from your home address.

I'm reluctant to go out on a limb because allowances regulations are changing very frequently at the moment and I cannot be sure I have kept up to speed. However, if things haven't changed too much yet then I expect the following to happen:

1. Your HDT at your current unit will cease from your last day at work there.

2. Assuming you are eligible for HDT at your new unit it won't start until you start work there.

3. For the bit in between while you are on your course it depends on the distance travelled but if it's less than 10 days and you're living-in you won't get GYH. You may get HDT if you travel daily but will have to claim it manually after the event.

4. You will get Incidental Expenses for each night you spend at your temporary duty unit; claim to be submitted after the event.

I hope this helps, but please don't take it as gospel until you have read the latest edition of JSP 752.

Cheers TBJ,

I am staying in my MQ at old unit due to my daughters schooling needs and will therefore travel daily to my new unit, course is 100 mile in the other direction from where I live and I will live in during my course. I have been authorised to use my own car to go to my course too.

So from what you say and the limited knowledge I have, I won't get HDT until I actually arrive at my Unit (which will be after my course), I can claim mileage for travel from my MQ to course and back and IE - after the event. Course is less than 10 day although it spans a weekend but won't get GYH.

Course is at a pay as you starve unit; will I pay accom?

Cheers for the info. I will read the JSP when I can!! :PDT_Xtremez_14:
