Hello,

First post -I've done a search but came up with nowt.

I applied last year to become an Aircraft Controller in the RN. I completed the entire process and was waiting for a start date and was then told they had capped the age limit to 26. Having just turned 27, this has terminated my RN application and I've now turned to the lighter side.

Obviously I need to start over again but I'd like to know if my FAT test pass in January would be valid? I have no problem in resitting them but would just like to know. I asked the RAF recruiting officer this question and he wasn't sure.

Thanks in advance!

I assume the FAT test is the equivalent of the RAF's Airmen's Selection Test (AST)?

If you applied to the RAF, you would have to sit the AST before carrying on with the rest of the application process. You are in luck as the upper age limit for entry as a DE ATC is 36. You will be processed as someone who is looking at NCA - AST, P2 Presentation, filter interview, OASC then entry into service.

Check your PM's.

Your recruiting officer sounds like a right plonker. His answer should have been 'I will find out for you and get in touch asap'.

Send him round to me and I will re-educate him.:pDT_Xtremez_32:

Thanks for the replies!

FAT - Flying Aptitude Tests.

These are done after the initial recruitment tests to gauge aptitude for pilots, observers and ATCs. I believe the RN Lieutenant said they were valid for 3 years but I'd like to know if they're transferable.

I'll call that contact you sent me Warwick, thanks again!

Just following on from the post above -

FATs are done by all RAF/RN/AAC hopefuls, hence the question.

Cheers chaps.
