So this guy gets made Sergeant in July; Gets shot dead in November and the Pensions people will not award a Sergeant's pension to the widow.
I don't know about you, but I think that's not fair, especially when it's "on Active Service".

The wife of the late Sgt Telford has already been awarded a full pension as if he was a substantive Sergeant. I do not know if this is the general rule from now on or just an exception made in this case.
