Hi All

Im at the fitness stage of my application and im struggling to find info on the bleep test. I dont have access to a copy of the bleep test so all im doing is running. I run a mile and a half in 9.43 is this good enough to get the level required. What do i need for sit ups and press ups im 30yrs old. Thanks for any help in advance

Whilst it does depend on your ability to turn and run (as that is what gets a lot of us), if you can run a 1.5 mile in 9:43, I reckon you'll be fine TBH.

I am 33, I need to get to 9.4. You should be about the same.

If I run a mile and a half in 10:30 I can usually get to about 9.6 and if I run it in 10 minutes I can expect to last into the mid level 10. Level 11 is the light blue level that means you may not have to do it again for a year. But your experience may vary.

19 whole pressups and 32 situps (both in a minute and both within 10 minutes of running the beep test usually).

What is your trade? PM me if you want any more info and your squadron should have the little tri-fold leaflets that give all the levels. I personally think that the beep test is a bugger to train for so I have simply settled for doing a mile and a half the week before and recording those times as an indication of expected outcome.

Having just completed my PJFT I found the beep/bleep/multi fitness test a lot more difficult than just running... And as already been said there are the sit-up and press-up tests to be done, candidates must pass each element of the test to obtain an overall pass!

Well worth a few practice sessions of the bleep test, I have an MP3 file that was downloaded off the RAF website but unable to find it now so let me know if you want a copy (hopefully this is ok copyright wise, it was publicly available before).

Sure you have this link but plenty of info here http://www.raf.mod.uk/careers/canijoin/fitness.cfm, about half way down it clearly states the requirements for your age group (under The Pre-Recruit Training Course section). This was what I had to meet to pass.

Your recruiting officer will be able to provide confirmation on the above.

Cheers,

Ron

Lots and lots and lots of running. With plenty of pressups and situps inbetween. Once you are in as Phase 1 you will hear of "rofa" and you really need to be prepared for that one!!!!

I've got my PJFT this coming Friday at Leuchars. Really not looking forward to the bleep test. I remember doing them years ago and hated them then.

I'm sure you know this Keegea but remember to pace yourself at the start of the bleep test :)

Was a little apprehensive when I arrived for my PJFT but as our Flight Sergeant reminded us all "it's mind over matter" ;)

Good luck with it on Friday :encouragement:
