First off... this is my first post so be kind ha ha :PDT_Xtremez_31:

I know this may have been covered before but Im just after some info regarding re-joining the RAF.

I left on a PVR at the back-end of last year (was TG1) due to more than enough troubles at home, you know the old straw that broke the camels back thing. Was getting fecked off with the way things were and it got me on a right downer yada yada yada.

Anyway Im really starting to miss it, mainly because things at home have more-or-less settled down and I just cant seem to shake off this feeling that I want to make another go at the RAF now that things are sorted.

Its not that Im struggling job-wise, infact thats quite the opposite. Ive had numerous jobs out in civvy street (and a couple of them much more money than I was on in the mob).

Call me mad, but I just miss the banter! Anyone get what I mean??!! :PDT_Xtremez_35:

I understand that there is a 12 month cooling-off period before re-applying but there are a couple of other things I wouldnt mind a shiny-type person answering (or anyone else in the know for that matter).

What is the manning like for TG1, and is there a good chance for getting back in and doing kit-and-post if its within a certain amount of time after leaving?

How long would I be able to stay in for (I did 5 years total) assuming that the original 9 (+6) would still stand?

Any chance of staying on AFPS 75?

One other thing, I got myself into a spot of bother with the law recently and now have no license (driving a wee bit too quickly). Will that bar me from getting back in?

Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers :PDT_Xtremez_28:

Hi there. I'm re-applying and the question about length of service, I was told that they deduct the amount of time served from the initial nine years you sign on for.
So in your case you would sign for four years initial service because you have already served five.

I don't know cock all about trade group 1 but I'm sure someone will be along to help you.

Cheers Yorkshire_Gal, thanks for the reply. And good luck :PDT_Xtremez_28:

It's not your first post, it's your 2nd!:PDT_Xtremez_15:
As for missing the banter, I'm sure we all know what you mean!

Afraid I can't help with TG1 questions, I do a proper job.

AFPS 75? I would have thought very unlikely. They don't usually want to give you something for nothing, although you may wish to reconsider moving to the new one voluntarily (if you get the choice). Bearing in mind the current OOA's (on a blacker note) and the death in service benefit for your family being much improved in the new scheme.

As for the 'spot of bother' - don't think they'll be too bothered.

In any case very good luck with your rejoining application - hope you get what you want.

Cheers Ping... some good gen there, much appreciated! :PDT_Xtremez_19:

If you do decide to come back, make sure you arrive at Halton under 2 years after your discharge date, which will allow you to 'kit & post' (arrive, draw your uniform, do the Regt FP Trg, fit test and go back to trade. Anything longer and it will be 9 weeks of fun, and another RTS Flight tee shirt for you!!:raf:

Goog luck

Portcullis - Thanks for the info mate.

What would happen if I applied to rejoin within 2 years but didnt get a start untill later... I assume I would have to do 9 weeks? (Whats the extra 2 weeks for anyway?)

Is that true only for basic, or would there be a trade refresher too?

Cheers
