Hello all,
first post here, been doing alot of reading the past few hours,
basically ive done 5 years in the Regiment and its not for me,
ive spoken to the chief clerk on camp and hes gave me the right form to fill in, he's advised me to look at the RAF website for jobs,
but theres not alot of great information on jobs etc,

as there is a broad spectrum of ranks/jobs on here, just wondered if you could offer a little bit of advice,

im currently serving at Honington, where the majority is regiment.

Been told to look into Int Analyst as i have 5 GCSES and 1 a level in Biology,

Ive looked at Pharm Tech but theres no information on Training etc,
also Biomedical scientist (not free at the moment)

Im open to all suggestions, really looking for something which i can gain a trade..

Thank you for your time

Garry

If your 5 GCSEs include Maths and English (Grade C or above) then you should seriously consider Non-Commisioned Aircrew or Air Traffic Controller

Thanks for the quick reply,
Ive looked at Aircrew in the past and fancied it,but ive since got married and had children,
and ive spent so much time away from them already,
i know the job as swings and roundabouts and in the raf you dont know whats going on next,
but would like to have a sense of knowing whats going on, staying local as such....
With the Air Traffic Controller , do you have any further information?
Sorry for the Essay and all the questions,
i would ask at Honington, but theres no one to help there

Thanks Again

Air Traffic would probably offer more stability than WSOp although if you went (EW/ACoustic) then you could spend a lifetime at Waddington (esp if MRA4 moves there) although your family would have stability you'd still have to do your share of detachments. ATC sound like your best option.
Pop into your AFCO in Cambridge, Norwich or Peterborough the next time you get a day off if you can't find anyone at HON to give you advice.

Sutty,

the big issue at the moment is there are simply no jobs that are open at the moment for anyone, let alone remusterees. Unfortunately, just because you are coming to a trade from within, you won't be given any special preference - you'll be someone waiting to fill up a training slot as is someone on civvy street. You can always wait until next year (most trades aren't going to open until NEXT autumn). Failing that, try DE ATC/WSOp (as has already been mentioned) - they're your best bet at the moment.

no because im still a SAC and now they have added the Lance Cpl rank its gonna be a while before i get to cpl,
just job satisfaction has been on a low for a longtime,
lost too many good friends too,
i know its the ins and outs of the job,
but its just getting closer to home..
