Just a quickie, the Captain of the ship (read Harry Staish....) down here at this Cornish Navel establishment is recommending that all those attending a local remembrance parade tomorrow, even if they are just watching (like me), should do so in uniform.

I'm quite happy to do that, but there's no mention of what the required dress should be. As my no.1's are currently in the tailors being blinged up, can I safely assume that light blues with say a jumper and tie would be fine? No one in work seems to know or even care so I thought I would ask my fellow Goaters. :PDT_Xtremez_22:

I would have thought he meant no.1's with no medals...if in doubt put on a suit or whatever you think is fitting as it's in your time, off station(?) and the way you remember the fallen should be your own personal thing.

No1s without a doubt, but since you don't have them a very smart suit with poppy

Our local scrolling news says No 1's.

If in doubt ask the SWO.

But to be honest, does it really matter? I think it should be down to personal choice.

As far as I was aware it was personal choice if you are not attending as part of an official parade.

Wear whatever you want, (without a doubt) As someone already stated, the way you choose to remember is your own personal choice. You are off-duty, if you want to wear uniform - great, if not - thats fine too.

...But to be honest, does it really matter?...
Personally, I think it does matter - I think it matters a very great deal. To my mind if you're going to attend then the solemnity and gravity of the occasion demands that you ought to attend in No 1 HD. If not then a lounge suit and/or a smart overcoat is appropriate, and this is how I dressed last year, with medals. This year I don't have a choice, I'm on parade, and so No 1 HD it will be.

I think that in sight of the public (and more importantly members of the RBL, who put great store by this occasion) attending Remembrance in working dress is not appropriate. Combat dress is unforgivable. Dress as smart as you can. The glorious dead deserve no less.

If you don't have your No 1s, I wouldn't go in No 2s, as some have said, a smart suit would be better.
