Is it now time for TG18a to redefine it's role?

It will be interesting to gauge how TG18a personnel feel in relation to Logs (Supply) employment whereby we double or even triple hat in a variety of roles in the UK and on Ops.

Should we continue to task Suppliers to do/assist with MT/Movements roles when manpower/policy dictates because we have obtain the TQA?

Genuine question for genuine answers.

In the current ops environment we all muck in together, but back home after whats happened in the last week a huge wedge has been driven between us by thos who dont care about reality.

As a Sgt its hard to go against my principles of being on big team and to do otherwise would go against my personal grain.

However its very hard to justify this to others who may feel different as we are now on paper and in cash terms seen as a lower rate of employee. If thats the case why should we offer the service over and obove that we always have given.

Give it a few years to cleanse the trade of the pension trapped experts, then watch it all go to rat****.

It won't matter soon my fellow TG18 peeps. We will all be one super trade when we amalgamate.

Then you can join us in the high pay band:PDT_Xtremez_30:.

Aka 1970 when the split first happened. All Supp Apps had been trained Supply Movements up until that point.

Would it happen again? Why not? Not us old fekkers, we need to stay the same, but the new breed can be dual hatted. A few years ago I did a little "thesis" on a "TG18D", an amalgamation of Fuels and ASMT into one big Fuels trade. As we look around Stackers are LL/AMF/IMDG/ADR/Fuels/HGV/FLT qualified, is it too much to think that the future loggie may well be trained in all three disciplines and moved around according to a sort of "Super Tats". I know that older Movers and cabbies will throw thier hands up in horror saying "never, over my dead body" etc. Well why not, give me a cast iron reason why it shouldn't, not couldn't, happen.
