A serious question for a change.

What is the accepted etiquet whilst attending a Remembrance parade with respect to saluting, head dress etc as an attending veteran in civvies mit beret.

Dont want to offend the old boys or make oneself look like a tw@t (easy I know!).

Any advice most appreciated.

If your still serving then you should attend in uniform (No 1 SD with medals). Some veterans wear berets in civvies; others wear chip bags and RAFA have their own chip bag.

As for saluting, IIRC commissioned officers salute for the National Anthem, Last Post, and Revallie [sp?]. Remainder stand to attention.

Do what you want

Do what you want

Do what ever you feel you want to, you're a ex-service now so the rules no longer apply and cannot be enforced.

It's about rememberance not pomp and circumstance.

We will remember them.

A. Surprised YOU kept your beret, you never used to wear it when you were in mate.

B. Crew chiefs always did what they wanted anyway so whats changed.

C. You would look like a bag of ****e whatever!!

D. If you meet a poppy burning muslim give him a slap.

E. Hope you keeping well. What you doing now?

Yes I did read the original post; whereas I could have just stated the bit about veterans, I thought that I could expand to benefit any other e-goaters who could be wondering similar. It's was making a constructive comment - you should try it sometime. ;)

It has been in SRO's at our place for the past couple of weeks that ALL RANKS salute during the National Anthem, officers salute during the Last Post and everyone just stands to attention for Reveille.

Never heard that one before Trickytree, it's always been a commissioned thing the salute I thought.

Well, that's what was in Orders. I'm a bit busy right now but I'll have a look in AP818 a bit later. Or some drill instructor type could do it for me.

Just a quick question; if attending in No.1s with medals where should a poppy be worn, lapel, breast? which side?, forgot to phone the SWO on Friday.
Thanks

Civvy: Ex RAF.
The only time I ever wear my old beret* is at the annual Remembrance Day parade. No saluting, just stand ramrod straight and look the world in the eye.

You know why you're there; the rest of the world can go hang.

*where can I get a replacement ?

Couldn't wear my beret if I wanted to, I haven't had a haircut in 3 months.

Veterans badge pinned over the centre of the poppy works well.
