My remote key fob for my Vauxhall Vectra has just stopped working.

Its definately the key fob as I have tried the other one and it works fine.

I have replaced the battery, but it still doesnt work.

Do I have to go to Vauxhall to get it 're-coded' or is there an alternative method.

Cheers

There is an alternative method on Fords so I would imagine Vauxhall has one similar.

You may need to do a 'reset', which is something along the lines of:

Sit in car. Close door.
Switch on ignition.
System will remain in programme mode for 30 Secs.
Briefly press either button on the remote and release.
Central locking system should have cycled and locked and unlocked the doors.
Your key is now ready.

same thing happend to me a while back in my pug, try looking in the owners manual i found the reset sequence for mine it was a bizzare series of turning the ignititon on and off while pressing the pedals:PDT_Xtremez_42:

I had this once on an old Omega where it was evaluated that the key fob was proper goosed. So rather than pay those robbing ****s at Vauxhall the £80 for coding plus the £30 for the security document to prove it was my car I paid a well known character on the Omega Forum £10 to sort it. 2 days later, a brand new and correctly coded key fob drops through my letterbox. :)

I have been told by someone who's friends dog is in the know that it can be resolved by placing the fob up your bum and singing halelujah whilst masterbating a large dog.
Hope this helps.

Had a similar problem with my last vauxhall, if it keeps happening, it is probably just wear on the two halves of the key fob, I packed it behind the battery with a small piece of paper and it worked fine for another two years. If Vauxhall hadn't wanted eighty quid for a new key I might have bought one.

Do a search on Google for Key Fob repairs. Did this for my Omega key fob and found a company on the outskirts of London who refurbish for about £25-30 pound. They turn it around in about 3 days. Never had any further problems.:PDT_Xtremez_14:

Did the key in ignition turn on, press buttons and although the doors didnt lock and unlock after I took the key out the remote was working again.

Many Thanks for you assistance.
