im due back from cyprus later in the year but instaed of moving into a quarter my wife and bin lids will be moving into our own house and i will be going in to the block.

someone has said that i will lose all gyh posted or rilor etc if i dont move into a married quarter first and then move into my own house??

apparently his mate was posted back from germany and he moved stright into his own house and because of this lost his entitlement to rilor etc?

anyone shed any light on this!!

Renton,

You started a thread on this subject two weeks ago, which was answered both on the forum and by pm.

I am now in a position to obtain a quote directly from the JSP:

07.0115. Qualifying Residences. To qualify for DA Service personnel, irrespective of PStat Cat, must be entitled to move at public expense and the move must be to or from a RWA. If a Service person elects to serve unaccompanied (UnAcc) and settle their immediate family in a SPR, DA may be claimed at the rate for the type of accommodation their family moves into (ie privately owned or privately rented accommodation or SFA).

If you are living in the block, you will be charged full whack food money wef 1 Apr 08. However, you will be able to submit an absence request for all non-working days (ie Sat & Sun) and thus reduce your food charge.

You will be entitled to GYH Allowance, based on the mileage between your family home and your place of work.

As you will not be paying accom or council tax for your BB, you should be liable for it in respect of your property, however it is a private matter between you and your council.

There is one way to do things.

If you will get more money moving into a MQ then request a MQ and you move in your wife and kids goto your house. You take the money wait a few months and move into the block, all the while your family is sat at your own home.

cheers for the replys fellas although the thread i started a while ago was about disturbance allowance and not to do with rilor etc.

cheers

steve

If memory serves me correctly, you will be able to claim GYH(P) which is a daily rate to compensate you for your weekend travel provided that your house is more than 50 miles from your unit; the fact that you move there directly from Cyprus won't effect this entitlement. If you live closer than 50 miles and can travel daily then you can claim HTD with a 9 mile personal contribution.

Been there

Been there

Be careful, the rules used to be if you claimed distrurbance to a family home that was over 50 miles your RILOR was capped.
I understand that with JPA the capped bit has gone and it becomes GYH(P) not RILOR.
I think DA to house is more than SFA (was about +£600) but the JPA police bought them more into line.....
PS that is from experience and not any official publication!

Renton,

Do you intend to travel daily from your own home or are you going to be a weekend warrior? How far is your home from your next unit?

The answers to these questions will determine the advice you get, although Humble Scribe has given it to you in a nutshell. You won't lose entitlement by moving directly into your own home; once the reverse was true and if you moved into a MQ first you would be limited with what you could claim when you moved out.

OK..Igiveup, you appear to be confusing the regulations concerning RILOR and GYH(P) - both of which are pre-JPA terms and no longer valid.
