Remustering Question.

Hello E-Goaters

Does anyone know what restrictions there are that would prevent you from remustering?

I know obviously you would need to meet the required qualifications of the trade you were intending to move to, and I am aware that you have to have completed your Return of Service (3 years from completion of trade trg).

However is there anything else that could prevent one from even being considered?
 
Yeah, I asked about moving from a trade that is severely undermanned to one which is doin allright and they just laughed at me. :S

Yeah I guessed that would also be a factor, however my trade is over 100% manned so that shouldn’t be a problem here. But is there anything else that will stand in the way?

I remustered 5 years ago from Fairy to Int AN and the only thing that stood in my way was the trade group 2 desk, well the guy on it anyway. Said he wasn't prepared to see someone move down so far from 2.

Took about a year of trying, and after he was posted and replaced, i was released from trade. Just be aware that if you do it off your own back, and not as part of a trawl, you may take a pay cut.

I remustered from Pen pusher to Gen Mech GSE... luckily for me my Flt Cdr phoned the trade desk and got things moving. I had a short initial interview with an Engineering Officer to asses my suitabilty and I think but cant be sure a basic maths engineering test.
I did have to drop from SAC to LAC but that was well worth it for me to get way from SHQ.
BTW this was 1977 so not sure of how things are nowdays!

I dont suppose you completed a tour at Saxa Vord in the mid to late 80s?

As I seem to recall a discussion with One of the heavies & he explained how he remustered and initially started off his RAF career in some admin type role.

Wasnt you by any chance?
