When I was leaving the mob I went to pick up my medals and found that two of them, the Air Ops Iraq and Op Telic medals, were missing - not an unusual occurrence apparently.
Anyway, they sent away for replacements and they arrived but had a C or an R on them to denote them as copies, (I can't remember which). Until recently that never bothered me, but after a recent health scare which had me thinking about leaving stuff to my family, I'd rather I had 'originals' with no C or R or whatever on the back.
So, is there a section in the RAF/MOD I can contact to get them or am I stuffed? It seems a bit off as some lightfingered bugger has my originals.
 
Sorry fella. If a medal has to be re-issued it will be re-issued with either a C or R. There's no way you can get a new medal issued without this.

I would suggest you do a bit of a trawl around the Medal collector forums or even E-Bay. Stolen medals will eventually show up somewhere.
 
SPVA is the best bet for any questions on Medals. However I am more perturbed about your missing medals. They should be issued via P1 thru' the SWO and onto you (usually via a medal ceremony) At some point, someone on your Unit will have signed for them and, since they have your name/number on them, they should be easy to trace. Go back to your last Unit and, if need be, put in a Service complaint.

I think the problem with them going walkies was that I was posted both times I was awarded those medals and they must have gone between stations. As I said, the stacker I saw about it in clothing stores didn't seem surprised they'd disappeared so I assumed it's happened before.
What you say about the engraving is something I'd not thought about, as my replacements are engraved then the others would've been.
Actually, thinking about it they also misplaced my LSGC medal and during the presentation I was photographed receiving an empty box :PDT_Xtremez_42:... but at least they found the original later in the SWOs filing cabinet.

My Fmr Yugoslavia/GSM (NI) were stolen - I even know by whom (although attempting to prove it was fruitless)

I still have my original GW1 medal, still in, the now tatty original tan coloured box (but knowing my Son, he has probably taken it and pinned it onto One of his toy soldiers or the neighbours dog!!)

I have never put any thought into replacing them, that is, uptil recently.

**Incidentally, the person who I strongly suspect of taking the originals is still serving**
