Gents / Ladies,

Having PVRed before my 22 and applied for my pension, I have a question to the shop floor before asking the PSF Oracle:

Is the resettlement (terminal) grant paid automatically? OR is it something that I have to apply for in addition to applying for the pension?

Go talk to your station resettlement clerk, usually found in and around the education centre. The grant is not a lump sum of money that is handed to you, it’s available to use on any training that you undertake as resettlement.

p.s. you should be attending you regional resettlement briefs ASP to. All the gen is dished out there.

Halfhand, many thanks for the reply.

The grant is what used to be called the Terminal Grant, £10038 paid to personnel who have served over 12 years when they leave the service before their 22 year point.

Having spoken to JPAC, it will be paid into my account as part of my pension application up to 10 days after my discharge date and is, thankfully, tax free.

The bit you are talking about is the resettlement training grant of £534.20.

Do you mean the Gratuity, i.e. the tax-free lump sum for completing >12 but <22 years?

I believe it is paid automatically, but you may need to complete some paperwork to confirm your bank account details. This is the case for those discharged to pension as some have their lump sum paid into a savings account.

If it is Gratuity, then details will either be in your terminal pack up, or with your friendly PSF chappie!

yeah got that now was just the use of both terminal and resettlement

?

?

Always known it as the resettlement grant.
Didn't realise it had gone up to over £10k though. Nice to keep up to date though cheers.
Not Gratuity as that is part of pension, will have to wait till age 60 and 65 for that now.
