I 'won' a roof box off ebay...chap who was selling it was a little frugal with the truth and to be honest I know nothing about them except I need one...

Its missing the bits that attach it to the roof bars...Its originally a BMW box made by Oris (E39 model) that I now want to attach to the roof bars on my Grand Scenic...BMW bars and mine are virtually the same but I'm fecked if I can find any reference to wahtever attaches it online or their site...

Here is a piccy of the box:

Anyone got any brilliant ideas before I start drilling holes in it?!

Yeah................... stop being a tight bum, get down halfords and buy a new one with all the bits!....:PDT_Xtremez_19: Have you contacted the guy on ebay? He may still have the original bits and just 'forgotten', leave him neg feedback if you get no joy otherwise he'll get away with selling crap!

I have but nothing back yet...he was some kind of millionaire type chap who I begrudged handing the money over to as he obviusly didn't need it...He probably lit his next Cuban with one of the tenners!

Even if someone had one and could descibe what these things look like would be a big help!

just get drilling like a real man and use half a dozen U bolts.

Piece of p1ss

Hear what you're saying but B and Q had feck all U bolts on the shelves...I would have to buy a length of straight threaded bar, heat it with my imaginary forge and bend it over my make-believe anvil...I do actually own a real hammer...

You know how a liney would do it.......................

I've already discussed the merits of tie wraps with Mrs F....This was not well received.

I'm listening on the exhaust clamp front though...

Nextdoor neighbours TV aerial/sky dish will have at least a couple securing it to the pole! :PDT_Xtremez_42:

What feedback did you leave for him? If you haven't left any yet, maybe a hint of 'negative' will get a response. Good luck.

He's got back to me...apparently there is a T-slot on BMW roof bars that the strip of metal on the roof box, when loosened, sits in then you just tighten up the knobs...mine do not have this so U-bolts it is...Thanks for the ebay link...they should do the trick althiough size wise its going to be very tight.

If anyone finds any bigger before I do let me know...its the depth thats close.

Can't the GEF workshop knock a few brackets up for a packet of chocolate hob nobs?

The machine shop where I work build all sorts if you know the right people. :PDT_Xtremez_19:

Already thought of that today but its Sunday so I couldn't do much about it...1st thing tomorrow after a cup of tea, some banter, a bit of ducking and diving, a filling at the dentists (booooo) and a satisfying dump I'm going to ask where GEF is!

Mine had U bolts from new. A lot of roof boxes have them as a standard fitment.

If you struggle at exhaust centres, try places that sell TV antenna's and sky dishes. There's will tend to be round whereas the exhaust type are mostly V shaped. Both should work nicely
