Documentary of the same name on BBC2 as I type!

Saw it in the week, shame it was so Navy centric. I wonder if the SARF will get a documentary made of it's history?

Agreed...think the Navy coughed up a bit to get that made!

It was nice to hear that the Sea King fleet has it's own equivalent of the long lived Chinook, BN and hear it's story.

RAF SARF has had plenty of TV programmes made about it over the years, A whole ITV prime time series back in the 1980's which covered 202 Sqn D Flt at ISL (which included the rescue operations during Piper Alpha), plus Highland Emergency (Channel 5) that covered the operations of both the RN and RAF SAR flights at Preswick and Lossie, plus the Coastguard S-92s out of Stornoway and Sumburgh and Helicopter Rescue (BBC Wales) that covered the operations of both the RAF SAR flights at Valley and Chivenor. Got to admit, I knew that a Navy Sea King had taken a cannon shell hit on one of its rotor blades during the Falklands (the same Skyhawk raid came very close to taking out the 3 Commando Brigade HQ and the British Land Forces Commander as well). Didn't know that the same frame had also eaten bullets in Bosina and a RPG in Afganistan and is up there with BN in the can't be killed catagory.
