Hiya,

Finally after 4months of waiting iv been accepted for IOT.. but i have to filling in security clearance forms. Iam a bit concerend as it says it will do a credit check. When I was at university 4 years ago, i got into a bit of debt and defaulted on a loan and a storecard. Iam a bit worried this is going to affect my application and il be chucked out. It said on the form that if you dont mention something that crops up you will be seen as unrealiable, so I have admited it so i have nothing to hide. Does anyone know what will happen??

Hows your credit history been since that default? What's it like as a snapshot today?

The Security Clearance people will decide on how it goes... but don't stress too much....

They will find out a lot about you and, if you have omitted something of relevance, they will return the form for you to complete. If you fail to complete it satisfactorily (ie lie) then your security clearance may hit the bumpers and you'll be shown the door.....

Honesty is the best policy and just be glad you dont have to do a DV clearance for EVERY skeleton is aired!!!

Good Luck with your application !!

I wouldn't worry about it as long as your honest. They even gave ME a DV and my credit history was a total disgrace.

The majority of people in the RAF are just SC. There are jobs where you will require a DV (often with strap clearances as well), but at this stage of your process I wouldn't worry too much about it.
