Did I read in Aug's PB that the numbers required for Sgt to FS on the last board was 72? Did I mis-read that, or did someone not pass their Q-Sec-T (i.e. had a little finger trouble when putting it together)?

There was an awful lot of excited people for a while but the actual number should read 40 I believe. Got it checked out after plenty of grief from our TG4 bretheren!

HS, you were too quick with the reply my old son. You should have let them think it was 72, at least for a couple of days!!:PDT_Xtremez_31:

There's a place for everyone. Shooting stars, and slow burners.

And really, slow burners.

True, but everywhere I turn I see top-drawer clerks who are consistent 'also-rans', while among the lucky few is a sprinkling of incompetent to$$ers.

I know there is nothing new or unusual about that but I'm finding it particularly frustrating right now. Never mind, I'm coming to your place for a 4-day visit next month. If all goes well, that might change my perspective!

Working on the principle of going for a commission if you can't get promoted True Blue? Hope it works for you!!

Thanks. I can but try and the portents look favourable. Our commissioning club has scored a 100% success rate so far this year and as many as half the students on the last few ASOCs have been ex-rankers.

You've either got a very good commissioning club or they're desperate for JO's; I suspect it's a combination of both!!

So if 40 Sgts are getting/got their crown this year and we are already at 90% FMDL, how many Cpls are going to get promoted to fill the 40 (+10%) slots that are vacant.

I have a vested interest as my Cpl came 45 in the PSL, and she was told initially that only 38 were going to get it, which seems strange when there must be about 70-80 posts available.

Thoughts/gen please Guys would be appreciated.

My source says 48. With 40 promoted to FS and the usual outflows through discharge, commissioning, etc., that can only mean several more sgt posts are planned to be disestablished/downgraded over the next 12 months.

The 90% FMDL looks set to stay for a while, but that 10% gap has been reduced from more than 50 posts a few months ago to around 20 now.

And so it goes on... I've got one in the top 10 and one in the top 30 and I was told 30. Lets do the math: FS-WO is (allegedly) 16 with perhaps the usual 6 CWO to take it to 22. Love the CMs but lets face it, the prediction always goes a wee bit over due to PVR etc so lets say 25. That would make the Sgt-FS 40 seem realistic. Which in turn would put the Cpl-Sgt nearer 50. Argh its all too complicated, I think I'll just phone the desk on Monday and ask for the numbers. Oh and good luck with the commission, I was apparently too handsome when I attended OASC:PDT_Xtremez_30:

When will it normalise

When will it normalise

Having been fckd around for the past 5 years I have made resolution not find out where I am and how many people will get it. With a restriction placed on Sgt's posts there are an estimated 90 posts available this year yet an expectation of only filling 50 ish.

The trade will settle down and good luck to all those in the future.

Thomo your creme comments here probably the most distasteful and inappropriate comment you've made on here (i'm surprised you made it). There are a lot of good guys (myself excluded or included) who are missing out by no fault of their own.

TBJ good luck at Cranwell.
