Not a good time for the sponsors of various premier league clubs.

Newcastle Utd falling apart and sponsored by Northern Rock which we now own.
West Ham Utd losing the sponsorship of XL leisure.
West Brom can't even find a shirt sponsor.
The AIG group which sponsor a Manchester team is in a spot of financial bother across the pond.

Do we really need shirt sponsors at the highest level of league football?

Weren't Barca shirt sponsorless for ages, but recently gave in to pressure and gave into the money men?

Which is ultimately what it is all about, generating money...

Yes money - I thought much the same then Villa v Spurs comes on the box and Villa are carrying the name of a local childrens charity for free on their shirts this season. Seems their American owner wants to put something back in to the community.

Sorry to disagree here mate, but Barcelona are paying Unicef to display their logo on their shirt, their way fo giving something back (and good PR!)

More should do this, I reckon. I find it depressing that little Johnny wants a team shirt at vast cost, and has to carry the advertising on it!
