Sometimes the simplest ideas are by far and away the best. Checkout this idea by Mark Robberts of Co Durham that he has proposed to the FA and FIFA who have in turn given him a damned good ignoring....

Slope inside goal

OK, it won't help in cases where the ball is hooked whilst in midair from behind the line by a defender, but for a ball that bounces inside the goal its got to be a solution.
That said, I can see an argument being raised that defenders may turn an ankle or lose their footing on the angled surface, but 10 degrees doesn't seem excessive.

Seen this before (not sure whether it was when he originally came up with the idea) - and it doesn't work.

Not only is it half a solution - because it doesn't cater for the mid air ball (like the one roy carroll scooped back over the line a few years ago), but because of where the slope begins.

It is not a simple as having the line, and then the slope beginning immediately after. A ball could land on the beginning of the slope whilst not all the ball being over the line at that point. The slope then takes effect and the ball goes in when it wouldn't have naturally done so.

Simple Goal Line Technology how about we employ a simple two pronged approach used by both defenders and forwards. We could use honesty and integrity. Oh no silly me that would require two more things, some spine and some principles, back to sky cameras and Andy Grays opinion I suppose:PDT_Xtremez_42:
