HI all, wonder if anyone can help me out please? I found out that my last sjar didnt make the psb and was advertised as such on dacos manning site. not massively worried as it was my first in my new rank. however, when i become eligible for promotion with the recommended amount of sjars per my rank, will the 1st one count as a U? or will it be re-graded at a later date? basically wondering if this will cost me an extra year in my present rank? many thanks in advance

I was always under the impression that your first three SJARS as an SAC won't make the board. Its only after 3 years that you will be elligable for promotion.

Stands by to be corrected.

It will be subsequently boarded in future PSBs and won't be a U grade as long as it does get there.

You normally require 3 assessments to be promoted to Cpl (4 to Sgt etc) but can be earlier in the right circumstances. Your last 3 assessments are used on a promotion board to Cpl but to say your 1st three are disregarded in not true.

thanks for the reply, yes it did get there just late. thats what i hoped to hear thanks, basically it will count possibly in the future if required

Thankfully it was just your 1st SJAR and therefore not vital for a PB however you should in future make sure your appraisal is completed within the required timescales to ensure it does not happen again. If your RO is late threaten them with a Redress as their tardiness could cost you a promotion.

I didn't know that was an option. Through no fault of mine or my 1st RO my report ended up being sent in just over a month after the official due by date. I've been told it's gone to STC (not sure what that is?) and that they'd be in touch. Haven't heard anything yet but Is it safe to assume that everything's hunky-dory now or should I be concerned that it may not go to the PSB (not sure when it sits)?

I plan on PVRing as soon as I'm able to so not really interested in promotion but it would still be nice to have it in there as a back up plan in case I decide to stay in.

cheers for the advice, wasnt aware we had to monitor them for completion. was this advised generally?certainly something to look out for in the future though. thanks again

Yes we are all responsible for chasing up our own stuff now. Good in a way but awkward if you have to spend time chasing especially as it will be your line management.

STC is the old name for Strike command I reckon. where they do the boards.

Every board will gather up the reports so as long as they are in now and the next ones get in on time when they gather for the next board they will get them.

1 month after the due date is quite quick really! If you are in with a shout of promotion and your report has not reached Air Cmd they will hasten the Chf Clk just before the board and it's up to the unit to chase it up.

If you don't know what STC is I suggest that you haven't done the requisite time for promotion anyway!:PDT_Xtremez_14:
