Hi there, one of my SAC(T) only arrived on the squadron in Sept, I arrived in Oct and have been tasked with writing his annual SJAR. He had an SJAR on posting and is to cover the period 02 Mar- 02 Sep 13. Is he due an SJAR this RP or does the one on posting count as it. Also, am I allowed to write it as even though the SJAR is due in March, I am writing it now having only known him 3 months. I'm yet to do IMLC and TEAMT (Mar and Apr 14). (apologies for the layout, for some reason the return key doesn't work on E-GOAT) Many thanks, PF

The rules are that airmen only get one appraisal per reporting year. If he received a report at his previous unit up until 1 Mar 13 (his 12/13 appraisal), then the one issued 2 Mar - 2 Sep 13 would be in lieu of his report due 1 Mar 14 (13/14 appraisal), and you would not have to do it.

However, if his previous report was a deferred annual, then there may be a requirement. Your Unit Career Manager should be able to confirm very quickly on JPA as to whether the last report he received was his 13/14 appraisal or not.

If you have to do it, then you can ask your HR to defer it until you have been in post 6 months.

Agree with Mutty, 1st RO must have known the subject for 6 months, so have it deferred if neccessary. I'm sure you should also have done IMLC, no idea which JSP would confirm that though. I think the policy is that you should also have attended an SJAR workshop, but it's not enforced, where I am at least.

If he had one on posting at his old unit within this reporting period Mar 13 - Mar14, then he isn't due another one until Mar 15.

Many thanks for the replies. Here is more information: On his SJAR (on posting) it is dated Period: 02 Mar 13 to 02 Sep 13 Appraisal Year: 2013/14 and has been signed by (his previous) 1st RO on 03 Dec 13. Does this info clarify it better for you guys as to whether he is due one in March 14. ( I have pretty much drafted one anyway) Thanks again, PF

That clears it up totally. The appraisal is in lieu of the one due for the rest of the SAC(T)s on 1 Mar 14. His next appraisal will be due 1 Mar 15.
