If I receive an exceptional rating in my SJAR (Cpl) does it require 3rd RO action? PSF have closed the SJAR and only 1st and 2nd RO's have actioned. I always thought 4820/6000 Spec Recs required 3rd RO comment are SJAR's different?
Cheers.

3rd RO

3rd RO

only if you have a high/ exceptional for 2 ranks up.

Not strictly the same as a spec.

You must have done a sponsored walk across water to get an exceptional, if your RO's follow the guidelines.

What ^^^ he said is right AFAIK.. this is what my Flt Lt told me the other day anyway... you dont have to have done what he ^^^ said though..I find giving the boss a blowy helps.. got me mine anyway!!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

This is what I thought till last week... it is only when he gives an exceptional for 2 ranks up not the next rank!

Unless its for a FS or CT (not that it matters in this case). For a Cpl to get a Exceptional for one rank up but only a Yes for two ranks up would be a little unfortunate, but not unheard of.

depends on rank

depends on rank

there are different rules higher up the chain as you run out of ranks,

I never seen the rules ref blowy option, but tend to find you don't even need to go through with it as long as the RO's dirty imagination works you will get your exceptional. :PDT_Xtremez_09:

I'll let you know how the blowy option works in my section. I'm due to write a few and have the space under my desk nicely cleaned out.

As corollary to that, mine is due this week....

Thanks for the replies, bit confusing, my 2nd RO gave me High rec for 2 ranks up but my 1st RO put N/A. So not sure where that stands me.

If your 1st RO is a Sgt then they cannot comment on 2 ranks up as they are not there themselves.

Then to answer you first post you need a 3rd RO, as I understand it anyway.

If the 1RO is only one rank higher then they have to grade N/A for 2 ranks up. The 2RO grades 2 ranks up and they have given High for 2 ranks up so you need a 3RO at Wg Cdr level. I would email the SJAR supervisor (Chf Clk if you don't know who the SJAR line manager is) with the details. By sending a email instead of a phone call you have an audit trail should it drag on.

This hapened to a friend of mine last year, his 2nd RO didnt tick the right box, you need exceptional 2 ranks higher, this generates the 3rd RO.

If your 2nd RO only put it through as high your report will only be read as high even though your 1st RO gave you exceptional.

Once the report is finalised there is little you can do, if its only just been done its worth trying to recall it, but the 2nd RO must be prepared to increase his recommendation.

good luck
