Not sure how attending a promotion board would improve your writing skills. It may help knowing what they consider as important to include but writing skills tend to improve with practice and certainly if you have an interest in the language. If you have no interest and are a complete biff when it comes to writing, then you shouldn't be in a position to write reports that have critical importance IMO.
It's a fair point mate; whilst the board won't teach you spelling, punctuation and grammar; it will give you an helpful insight into the content, structure, pitfalls etc to assist writing future reports.
I suspect that the practicalities of every SNCO and above attending a promotion board as an observer would be insurmountable. Not only that, it would be very distrubing for the board members themselves.
Yes, it can't be easy throwing those darts with people watching youDT_Xtremez_30:

It would not be hard to make a 30/60 min DVD to show all SNCOs when on IMLC.
Assessments are the single most important thing a senior does outside of trade!
There already is a DVD out, it is on its second edition which was made last year. I thought that it was shown on *MLC at Halton. There should be at least one copy at each unit, I suspect many more.
I've never heard of, or seen it! Maybe a Tosford instructor can tell all?
I agree that it could be extremely difficult but that's only because Manning insist on holding each board at HQ Air. Why not have boards as Unestablished Commitments and each major unit takes their turn in providing the manpower required? This would make it easier for more SNCOs and above to observe.

If I had more than 8 days left in the RAF I would help you. But if you pop in to your PSF they should have a copy. If they can't put their hands on it, get them to ring Manning (the correct dept).
