So no UK footy until April, across the pond the NBA, MLS, XFL and the PGA tour have all cancelled events. On the continent many leagues have suspended operations for some weeks to come, F1 is cancelling events across the globe, the 6 nations is messed up and will finish whenever, Super league is losing fixtures and the list goes on. So sports fans what are the repercussions for fans and clubs alike? What effect on your team (Accy Stanley for me) what happens to that local firm that prints your programs every home game, the coach company that ferries the fans to away games, the pie company who provides the home match day pies. The lost weekly income from stadium tickets for the bigger clubs they can probably absorb the hit for a while but for the lower league clubs who live hand to mouth and fixture to fixture this could threaten their survival. That's only the lost revenue, the players do they stay in training or go home for a few weeks? The leagues is the season to be voided or simply end with clubs were they currently are? If you have a Sky sports, BT sport or similar subscription with no live sport to screen do you get a refund or cancel the contract for a few weeks? Testing times ahead.

Leeds Rhinos have not flown out to play their superleague game in Perpignan against the Catalan Dragons against RFL advice. They are actually looking to see what action they can take against Leeds. The superleague fixtures look as though they are going ahead this weekend. Why do the RFL have to be different to everybody else. Bloody amateurs.

The Rhino's apparently have a player who has self isolated with flu like symptoms. I have no idea why the RFL have not followed suit with all the other sports governing bodies and just suspended operations for the foreseeable future. The sport stoppage raises other questions if the leagues are just stopped and the positions maintained do clubs still get relegated, promoted, get into the playoffs even though there are technically fixtures remaining. Legal action seems assured if that happens. What happens if a small club, of any sport, goes under because it's finances can't cope with the strain of weeks of lost revenue.

Any club or business that hasn’t got a comfy cash margin in the bank is going to have trouble making to the end of summer.

The governing bodies of any sports will just suspend the competitions until it's safe to carry on. They couldn't afford the law suits. Imagine Liverpool not winning the premier League. How about Sheffield missing out on a European place or spurs or utd.

I thought that cancelling football might actually make this real for many people who have been walking around saying 'FFS just a bit of flu!' and in turn might start to really rattle a larger portion of society...time will tell.

The UK's top ice hockey league has cancelled the remainder of the season.

If the league tables remain as they are what price being 17th in the premiership today with the threat of relegation removed, what if your team is 18th with a theoretical chance of escape? What if no one goes down how can anyone be promoted, Leeds have spent big that's wasted money if the promised land of the premier league is denied them, a right old mess to sort out.

We haven't spent big.
We're just about the only sustainable club in the Championship.
The FFP was going to hit a lot of clubs, the likes of Derby who sold their ground to themselves for £100m, Sheff Weds, etc.

I see the Tiddlywinks will have to be cancelled along side the marbles on the school grids, while Pitch n Toss still in hiatus from last year riot. Still never mind aye I bet Greta must be gloating by now.

Anyone thinking things will resume in April is in dreamland, that’s it for sport till late in the year!
