Any of you that know me in person, will know that I'm not the most svelte of airmen and over the years I've managed to acquire the title of 'Sports Prevention Officer'.

However, I've challenged myself and a fellow Sports Prevention Officer from Coningsby with completing the Newark Half Marathon on the 14th August 2011.

To give me more of an incentive, I've decided to raise money for the charity 'Combat Stress'... mainly because a close friend of mine who was stupid enough to join the Army is now in their care.

My running partner is raising money for 'Troop Aid'. All our fundraising efforts will be pooled together and split 50/50 between the two charities.

I'd be most grateful if you could look at my Just giving page... and I will be even more grateful if you could donate something to our respective charities.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Thanks for your support

Here you go guys...

Here is some evidence of how 'Rotund' me and my colleague are. The faces have been hidden, not because I think I'm some sneaky beaky type... more to stop any kids being scared!

We went to the recent RAF National Service association day at RAF Cosford to meet with the representative of 'Troop Aid'... lo and behold, look what I found at the bottom of their poster!

Anyway, I'd be eternally grateful for any donation... not only are the charities worthy of every single penny, but it also provides great motivation for me to get out on the road and build some mileage up!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Thanks in advance...

It is my sad duty to report that my running partner (who shall be known forever more as 'Fat Mick') has injured himself during training and had to pull out of the Half Marathon.:PDT_Xtremez_09:

However, I am now more determined than ever to drag my fat ar5e around the course... to prove a point!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

As a result, any money which I raise will go to Combat Stress... however I will make a donation to Troop Aid as 'Fat Mick' is still providing me with accommodation and transport on the day.

Training is going well, with only a few weeks left until the big day so I'm confident that I'll be completing the 13 miles within my target time of 2 Hours 10 minutes (yes I'm quite a slow but steady runner... which worked out well for the tortoise!).

Thanks very much to those that have donated already (both on Just giving and my sponsorship form)... and weirdly (for a Sports Prevention Officer) I'm starting to 'enjoy' running!:PDT_Xtremez_35:

Thanks

HTB best of luck running it without "Fat Mick" I'm sure you'll succeed. Comes as no surprise at all that Mr T aka "Fat Mick" has picked up an injury. My guess is it will be severe enough to stop him running but not bad enough to prevent his daily intake of your sponsors pies.

A huge thanks to all those that have made donations!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

I completed the Newark Half Marathon in 2 Hours 12 minutes... and it still hurts!:PDT_Xtremez_21:

Big thanks to Rig Pig for providing physical support (accommodation and lifts to the event) and ultimately for talking me into doing a 13 mile run on a Sunday bloomin' morning!:PDT_Xtremez_32:

PS, the just giving page will remain open for a few days if anyone fancies making a late donation!:PDT_Xtremez_15:

Harry, just tell me where to send a modest donation please.
I'm getting heartily sick of the Just Giving page (despite my having done it before, because it says it does not recognise the password but will NOT let me report that I've forgotten it!

I've managed to get Just Giving to perform.
There's a contribution to your fund, mate.
[ I've been trying to get it to work for the tax thingy ]
