Well its all kicked off, it seems like a great way to listen to music with over 8 million tracks online. If you choose the free option you will have a 15-20 second radio advert to listen to every 7-10 songs. Its really does seem like the business, I have had it on in the background all morning.

I just downloaded it for a quick tryout.

I have an App running in the background on my Mac which allows me to allow or deny any outgoing connection requested by an App, and Spotify asks for about 15!

Still works with them all denied, but worth thinking about if you don't have the ability to deny connections.

ETA: It asks for about 10 to 15 connections per song, not as a one off!

Price you pay for free music I suppose, although as mentioned it does all still work if you deny them all.

I was about to start a new thread about this...good job I checked.

Its bloody excellent with a huge database of music. If you've got a decent connection it really is like having the music locally.

As has been mentioned before, you have to put up with adverts but they're not really that intrusive. You can create your own playlists and if you don’t want adverts on that day, you can pay 99p for 1 days advert free music.

The price for permanent advert-free playing is £10 pm, a bit steep in my opinion since the adverts really aren’t that bad.

I particularly like how searches are cross-referenced so you could search for an act and all of their native albums that are on the list will be returned as well as compilation albums.

Also some rather obscure albums like chill-out, work-out, atmospheric.....sound effects are listed too.

It doesn’t contain the worlds entire music collection. Sadly there are some acts that are under represented, like Pink Floyd for example.

10/10 from me :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Me too mate. I wanted to listen to "Blowing free" after it cropped up in a conversation, I hadn't heard it in a while. Quick search on Spotify and voila, several versions including a few live ones.
I selected the album version and instantly shed about 30 years for 5 or minutes. God I love that song :PDT_Xtremez_19:

For the kids on here, the band is "Wishbone ash" :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Whilst I've not used Spotify, there is a web based ad supported playlist building big load of music on www.we7.com

Quality is good, but there is a 2 sec ad in front of every song.

Off Topic Didn't Wishbone Ash do "Girl from Mars"???

I like it a lot:PDT_Xtremez_19:

I tend to use it to pre listen tracks to see if I want to buy one song or the album.

Another good thing is, if you search for an artist it "suggests" others to have a listen to, giving your music taste a right good stretching opening up artists you might never have considered listening to before.

Well worth the adverts as they're not that obtrusive, and definitely less than on BBC radio let alone commercial stations.

Big thumbs up from Insty:PDT_Xtremez_30::PDT_Xtremez_14::PDT_Xtremez_30:
