Hello all i am a new member wanting to join the RAF regiment, currently requested for an application and when i receive im going to get the ball rolling, iv been browsing the site for a week now and finally registered. :)

Just a quick question, What happens if you complete training and when you get sent to your sqn your regiment are already out on tour?

Do you go out and join them or await till they are back? Thank y ou

Welcome in joining the Goat!!

The answer to the question you asked really depends on how far through the tour your Sqn are, if they require more personnel, etc.

There is no real black and white answer.

Upon completion of training you will be posted to the next Sqn due to go out on ops. Usually about 6 months after you get there which will allow you to go through a full package of pre-deployment training prior to you deploying out of area.

As it stands you won't get posted to a Sqn that is already out on ops.

Short answer, no.

You choose where you would like to go, and if those Squadrons have space and it suits the RAF that is where you will go, if however those choices do not fit in with the RAF's manning plot, you will go somewhere else that does.

Simple answer is NO. The only exception to that is II Sqn (the para Sqn). If there are spaces on the Sqn and places on the next pre para then you may get sent there if you apply for it. When you pass the TG phase of traininig you are asked where you would like to go but they will still send you where you are needed, which will normally be the next couple of Sqns to go out of area.
