Per the topic, has anyone done it? I was previously involved with Scotland's first aid charity and I'm keen to carry it on now I'm serving. I am looking to ask general questions with a dose of how they are ref. our up and down lifestyle. Thanks in advance.

I did a stint with the stab jabs and thoroughly enjoyed it. Remember, polo's should be adminstered for minor injuries and extra strong mints for things more serious, such as a burst arm!!

There was plenty of serving folk doing it at the time ranging from chefs, rozzers, aircrew, techies and medics so it's definitely possible.

I think they are glad of the help anyone can offer and at the lower levels of the operation, they value the dedication and mindset of service folk, but beware of the crusty old feckers who pervade the organisation and believe it exists solely for themselves. They don't like fresh blood and fresh thinking and can make volunteering a frustating experience.

Im pretty sure there is an RAF Branch of the SJA but don't quote me on that. There might be something on the SJA website if you take a look. ( I haven't been on there for some years so might take a swift look again)

Good luck!!

Thanks for the help. I've heard of the FPOS schemes that run, and have got some gen off the team here at Halton. Definitely something I will look into, but volunteer first aid has been my hobby for a good 3-4 years so I've a bit of motivation to keep that up as well. I appreciate the info though, FOMZ and Firestorm.

TW: Thanks for that, much what I was looking for. Very similar, then, to the Northern counterpart! Several years of experience with boots on the ground lead to much hair pulling at daft old fools who like wearing an SD hat twice a year! :PDT_Xtremez_17: I'll wait for them to write back, and see how it goes. Cheers much, again.
