Hi, im posted in the next few weeks and was hoping for some advice. On arrival at your new unit do you still need to visit PSF to get stn arrivals stuff or is it all done by new section and jpa?

Ta in advance

When posed to 216 at Brize I didn't have to go to psf, I went there anyway cos that's what you are meant to do ....right. I was told to fook off and go to the sqn cos its all devolved now. Most large sections have a scribe in post now.

One of the first checks to be signed up on a "Posting In" check sheet is for the clerk who deals with you to send you a welcome letter & arrival booklet. In that packup should have been information as to exactly where you are to report to on Day 1.

Maybe 15 years ago...not had that happen in a long time. Seems to be all self help these days.

Report to your section, you should have given them a call by now so they will let you know then. Otherwise pop in to the Staish and drop down in the chair in front of his desk, he'll soon tell you where you need to be.

Never seen a welcome pack, ever...

From AP3392 Vol 2 Lft 1502 Annex B - Permanent Assignment of Individual (Gaining Unit) - Check Sheet:

Item No 1 - Station Information Booklet and welcome pack (if applicable) despatched to individual.

Pretty damn clear to me. My apologies to those who dont get any information whatsoever. At my unit, we dont have booklets, but we certainly let the individuals know where they are to report to on day 1. Same as my previous unit.

Meh... Learn something new everyday. Luckily I'm big enouhg now to figure stuff like that out myself, but I'm sure some would find it a bonus...

It certainly appears you are one of the few exceptions in your trade who know what you are meant to be doing and actually doing it. Unfortunately.

I am the same mate, the last booklet/phonecall/information of any kind I received on posting was leaving Bruggen in '93 on the way to Odiham (it was actually how I found out where I was posted :))

Does the caveat (If applicable) provide the get out people use to just not bother these days?

The only time I ever got something like that was when I was posted from Wyton to Brize in '90. I made it my mission to nail the SACW in PSF that sent it to me..... And I did.

I got a posting pack about 10 years ago from St Mawgan, 3 stations later and I'v yet to see another.

I got an info arrivals brochure on my posting upto Lossie.

Phone up your Trade Manager/section SNCO first about a week or so to introduce yourself and to make sure they are aware of your arrival (they should be but its always polite to say hello). They should tell you where to go on your first day and also if you've sorted out accomadation either through the accom cell or guard room. On arrival though, you'll probably be heading to your section admin registry, they'll give you all your admin arrival bits then they'll take you to your TM/Sgt or the Support Cell/Training Cell where you'll get specific arrival bits aswell.

It used to be SHQ to collect blue chit, first stop SWO to be be welcomed to your new home followed by a visit to the camp barber who not only stole your hair and sideys but told you what you needed to know.

Welcome pack? bit American if you ask me.
