Anyone planning to do any of the summer fesitvals this year.
The V line-up has been announced and features MUSE, KAISER CHIEFS, THE VERVE, MAXIMO PARK, PIDGEON DETECTIVES, AMY MACDONALD, THE FEELING, THE CHARLATANS, LENNY KRAVITZ, THE KOOKS and others of course.
A bit luke warm when held up against the last couple of years, but having booked my ticket 'blind' after last years event I reckon I'll end up going to Weston Park again.

I ordered my Download festival ticket last night. Kiss, The Offspring and Lostprophets are headliners. They also have Judas Priest as special guests along with Motorhead so plenty for old rockers like myself. Also of interest on the bill are Chris Cornell (ex Soundgarden and Audioslave and singer of the last Bond movie theme), Incubus, Alter Bridge (Creed with a new lead singer) and Disturbed. With plenty more still to be announced. This year will be my 6th visit to Donington since 1988's Monsters of Rock.

Being a rock fan, the V lineup doesn't really appeal, Muse I would definately see (I saw them twice last year), and I would probably check out Kaiser Chiefs and Lenny Kravitz, but the rest of the lineup doesn't inspire me at all. I went to one day of V last year at Chelmsford, the setup was the best i've been to for a festival with 2 large outdoor stages set well apart, but again the lineup was disapointing (only reason I went was for the Foo Fighters).
I also went to a day at Reading last year (RHCP) and I must say that it is the worst festival setup I have experienced, they seem to try to fit too many stages into too small a location so the sound washover between stages is terrible. Of the Carling Weekend sites I would say that Leeds is far, far better. I guess Reading is surviving on it's name and not it's quality.

Leeds/Reading this year is rumoured to feature Metallica and Rage Against The Machine as headliners, so could be a corker depending on the supporting lineup.

propersplitbraineme...only band from that line up that interests me is muse, i've seen them a few times now and can guarentee they'll make any other band there look like an amateur pub band.

mingmong if ratm are there i'm gonna cry! i'll be in my phase two training hopefully and unable to get leave for it.

RATM are playing T In The Park.

They'd better play Reading !! Although I've already seen them twice (smug alert)

I agree that last year's Reading was a shocker for crowds - certainly the worst I've seen it since I started going in 1996.
The first time I've actually had to queue for a beer....ourageous.

Unless the line-up is spectacularly good (see above) then i may have to forgo this year and visit my buddy in Tokyo for a baseball tour.

...oh, and RHCP were dog sh*t last year. very dissapointing.

Totally agree about RHCP, it was the most disapointed i've ever been after a concert.
Think i'll be sticking to just the one festival this year unless Reading suddenly announces somethig extra special. I've already got plenty to look forward to this summer, Download Festival, Foo Fighters at Wembley Stadium, Bon Jovi and Iron Maiden at Twickenham and Def Leppard, Whitesnake and Black Stone Cherry at Wembley Arena.

Resurrecting the thread now the Weston Park mudfest is done, thought I'd just mention AT's comments on Muse. I wouldn't go so far as to say they made the others look like pub bands, but FCUK ME what a lightshow :PDT_Xtremez_30: If anyone gets the chance to see Muse live then grab opportunity, their show is amazing! And take in the Kaiser Chiefs too; don't take themselves too seriously and Ricky Wilson is a real showman.

As for Amy Winehouse...why the fcuk do festival organisers book this oxygen thief? Late starting, had her band standing on stage for 5-10 minutes until she decided to grace them with her presence and then whined/mumbled her way through her set :PDT_Xtremez_25: Duffy and Amy Macdonald put on a better shows than this supposed 'star'.
