Looking for some info from any goaters that have emigrated to Canada, ref paying tax on your pension and gratuity, looking into it, Canada has a deal with the UK so you do'nt pay tax on the monthly payment, but looking on Brit expats.com some one has posted that your gratuity might not be tax free in Canada, any one who has made the move got any good info, cheers for the help

I will be doing it and have researched the matter at length. My understanding is that your monthly is only taxed once, you choose either Canada or the UK depending on your set up.

If you settle in Canada before exit ie spend leave, resettlement and terminal time in Canada and are seen to make ties to the country ie buy a house, get a job swap driving licenses etc then it seems to suggest that your graturity will be scrutinised for tax as it is classed as world wide earnings!!!!!!!

Peoples advice leans towards move to Canada the day after your graturity has gone into your UK bank account to save a hefty tax bill.

Note I am not a financial advisor or tax specialist. I am serving in Canada and will be staying here on exit. I intend to find an expert to advise me properly.

Where are you heading for and when?

Lab City/ Wabush !!!!!!!!!! You like it cold then.

I have just started a 3 year tour in Calgary (fantastic), I plan to be out in 3 years and 5 months time, ie finish work at tourex and move to Halifax.

I had my PR and everything in place ready to leave before this job came up. Did a full 180 and totally landed on my feet before exit, Yep Mover.
