Looking for some advice/information on Tax Refunds-mainly do I have to apply for it or is it an automatic thing from HMRC.

Some deatils to help with any replies:
I am full time service with no secondary income (so I dont fill in any self assessment forms)

Applied for Marriage Tax allowance in March 2015-application was approved and new tax code issued to employer (before payroll cut off) also received a letter from HMRC confirming changes

New tax code was not applied in March 2015 pay. JPAC claimed no tax code was issued.

Checked new code was issued with HMRC, they confirm it was issued and that it was received by employer (see the government know everything...) and that it should have been applied in March's pay.

Was informed at this time by HMRC that I would be due a tax refund on the outstanding balance

So what happens now-do I get a refund in my pay, do I get a cheque though at some point in the distant future or do I have to fill out lots of forms to get my pennies back?

It may not be a lot of money...but the government owes me for a change

Should be automatically applied to come back through your PAYE code so far as I know - I got one due to coming off self-employed and back on to PAYE last tax year - meant I paid no tax one month and got back a bit of what I'd paid previously too. That was a GOOD month... ;-)
