Techie bonus

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
A chief at work reckons he's been told by a mate on Op Toral that a techie pay bonus is coming in April....seemingly Toral were briefed this and he fed it back to the UK. Source is usually sound....

£1600pa for FSs in TG1, 5, 13.

Seen a draft IBN thingy going around, Tg 1, 4, 5 & 13,
SAC £300 per anum,
Cpl £900,
Sgt £1400
CT+FS £1600
WO £1000
until it's an official IBN it's total bollocks.

I've got the doc on my phone now. Unfortunately it has DRAFT printed all over it. I won't post it as it's protectively marked. The figures quoted are correct. Accompanying rumour is that Mechs will drop to supp 2 with the armourers to pay for it.

Giveth with one hand, taketh with the other.

That'll at least give the Armorons somebody else to piss and moan with on being busted down a Supplement. *Chortle*

300 quid per annum for an SAC tech?

Well that's gonna help with retention...NOT.

£1000 for WO? They're already creaming it in after the pay changes, why give them more to stay in when most of them are going nowhere? Very strange, agreed £300 for an sac is an insult and will probably lead to more ET's than if they'd done nothing.

The whole pay shebang from Pay2000 onwards (now let's think about who the driving force behind that was) has been nothing short of a 20 year ballache.

Looking at the posts on this thread, I'm predicting a backlash from the lower ranks, especially the TG1 guys. There's rich pickings out in civilian life these days should folk want to take it.

I heard nothing for WOs.

It was explained to me that the retention crisis is viewed as worst at CT/FS level... SACs are like sets of denims and thus expendable.

Yea, dead hard to keep them 50+ year old cowards who can't hack it in civvy street hanging onto the airforce with white knuckles stopping those denims getting promoted to any significant rank within their 22 (or whatever it is now) year engagement.

Theres nothing that can make people feel valued more than statements such as this.

How many clicks do people have to make these days?

Tell that to the grown ups!

And you say that about promotion, I now know of two FSs in TG1 who are about to become WOs at the 22 year point.

Was going to post about this the other day. The next phase of the DERR. It’s with the Pay Col for sign off.

SAC £300 per anum,
Cpl £900,
Sgt £1400
CT+FS £1600
WO £1000

Non consolidated so doesn’t count towards the pension.

SAC figure based on them having the chance to get free degrees, finish NVQ, gain skills, etc.

ARPRB report asked for this, so looks like MOD have produced the goods (assuming it comes in).

I won’t scoff at an extra £1400/yr - bring it on.

It is about time the RAF introduced financially rewarded incremental ranks plus qualification pay.

i don't know, should it? Bed block for another 13 years?

People would have more fulfilling careers if we moved towards a 22 year system, similar to the Army. Leave or commission at the 22year point.

A 39 yo WO with the potential to serve until age 60, impossible to sack, £50k plus a year - why would you leave? Meanwhile the guys below are stuck in rank; no amount of STEM or RAFA will help.
