Hi, a group of us have been tasked to deliver a presentation on Trade group 4 and we are struggling to find out any information about the group itself. As we can not even find which trades are actually listed in the trade group we have hit a dead end. If anybody could help us out it would be much appreciated, thanks.

Who are you? Where are you? and what specifically do you have to present?
If you have access to the intranet you could look at the ICT MST website

Hey we are currently students at No1 RS in Cosford waiting to start our ICT course we just are struggling to find any information about TG4 and its history and its role in the Air Force like i said any help would be appreciated.

Here is some info to give you a start.....

TG4 is a fairly new trade which was created to encompass 3 currently existing trades.

TG3 (Eng Tech EL) TG11(Telecomms Operator / controller) and Some elements of TG5 (Ae Erectors).

The history of TG3 is that in itself it used to be three seperate trades under the same banner TC (Telecommunications) AD (Air Defence) and AF (Air Field Radar) these were amalgamated in 1994 to create the new TG3 EL Tech, whcih had a few changes of name before settling on Eng Tech EL.

TG4 (Excluding AE Erectors) is currently known as ICT Techs, (Information Communications Technologies) and is responsible for both newer IT Networks and also the Legacy TC / AD / AF Equipments, (Which are currently only staffed by Ex TG3 personnel). The Trade is also responsible for some of the Station Communications Centers (Commcens), which is the legacy responsibility of TG11.

Hope this gives you a starting point!

Welcome to the trade!

PS.. If you have some spare time while in Flowerpot Hall then try talking to some of the older more crusty SNCO and JNCO's they have been around a while and are ususally pretty helpfull, (Yes... i used to be one of them!)

I must be wrong...

No 1 RS at Cosford, eh? Isn't that full of TG4 personnel?

Considering the reduced trainee output (through our current financial restraints), there must be a few crusty TG4 instructors sitting there, gazing into their tea cups. Asking around locally would seem to be the easiest option.

I'm sure they could walk you round the lovely Flowerdown Hall and point out all the historical information regarding the trade.

Although it is a predicament. Listen to the sages on e-goat or ask a No 1 RS instructor? Hmmm...

?????

?????

Now I am not being funny but FFS. The walls of the place are full of info about TG4 and the history of the mighty TG3 and the operators.

As for asking the crusty Instructors what would they know about TG4?And I am sure any opinion they have will be cloudy in bitterness?

You could try the trade sponsor but to be honest I am not sure they would be able to give you an answer either?

So once you do find out please let us all know!

If they are currently holding, waiting for a course, they won't actually be located in Flowerdown. They will be in that place above Jax.

Don't think there will be many pictures or TG4 instructors up there.

Fair play for your initiative for asking on here guys.

In any case, Flowerpot/The Deathstar/Hell hole isn't locked. Walk in the front door and ask someone for help. Not difficult. Take a pen and paper and be open minded.
