Why Have Pics Of Kandahar

Why Have Pics Of Kandahar

Who did you buy the pictures of Kandahar off. There is no way you've been there before.

Think as per usual few "Tradesmen" will have gone but plenty of OSB (FC) types on our side.

Have just read the minutes from our Trade WO's conference and without going into too much on here they make interesting reading for the TG12 future.

I was there, but not as a complete participant. In short , ATC/FC likely to merge within next 5 years. Two trades will be cross trained to ensure maximum manning in critical areas such as the sandpit etc. No mention though of pay re banding. But overall could be of great help to TG9 Sgt OOAs. Also CATCS Wg will see massive expansion in next 18 months, oh the joy !

Were we at the same conference? I didn't hear anything about CATCS expansion. Pay banding - can someone please clarify the exact difference re pay banding?

Not sure about you guys but TG12 ASOp/ASM are low band until Sgt, FS low band and WO high band from April 08.

TG12 SNCO FC are all high band.

Hope this helps.

So let me get this right.. Tg12 Sgts are High Band? Guess you will all have to mark time till you meet up with the lower TG9.

Can't see them upgrading Tg9 SNCOs on amalgamation

SSH, I've re-read this a few times mate.

ASOP/ASM to FS = Low band

FOA/FOM = Low band

SNCO FC's = High band

SNCO ATC's = High band

I think

So no extra cash there mate (not that you need it...............)

Ok, thanks for clearing that up...........

So either your Sgt ASM's mark time or we get a pay rise...............

Which is the cheaper option do you think?

Would agree but it is all to do with percentages. I, and many others, do what is traditionally a FO/FL job, hence the high pay band. WOs can now do an Ops Room executive job (Surveillance Director) with the first 3 (about 18 in the trade) either qualified or in training. IIRC the magic percentage is about 10% of the trade employed in a role that would attract higher pay banding.

So that begs the question, how many Sgt FOMs are there in the RAF, and how many are willing to do Identification Officer (IDO) training to get onto the higher band?

I think there would be a mass exodus of SNCO TG12 IDOs if we were going onto the lower band, bad enough that a Flf Lt doing the same job gets more money now. Our TS has also stated that IDO training is going to be part of the progression Cpl-Sgt so in theory the whole trade will be qualified.

I appreciate that mate, but I'll say again

Whats the cheaper option?

Anything they do now HAS to have minimal cost, as stated by the Airships...

If you don't like where the train is going - get off.

Hate to say it, but somethings have to give and I reckon by looking at that, your wage packet will be one of them.

Will have a quiet word in a couple of shells tomorrow and see if we can get to the bottom of the pay issue. I still think you might do well out of it, we will be saving money by having one training organization, IMHO that gets rid of a great deal of fat from the meat.

What I find relatively annoying though is the fact that the only way I got to hear about a symposium for the future of my trade was on here! Would be interesting to find out who actually attended from both sides of the house and were TG12 merely represented by OSB (FC) officers as per usual.

NIDO, don't fret, it wasn't a symposium anbout TG12. It was an ATC/FC symposium where someone mentioned TG12/TG9, almost in passing. I'm sure there is plenty of water to go under the bridge yet and loads of scope for discussion with the experts.

I have to admit, the impression I got, was that it was an all encapsulating symposium, rather than just looking at ATC/FC.
