[TD]Recently we sent a cheque for £500 to Veterans Aid on behalf of the members and staff of E-Goat.

For those who may not be aware, E-Goat is run by Wobbly as a totally non profit making site. All the money that is given to the site by our donators and subscribers is ploughed back into the site (as server fees, software subscriptions etc.) the rest is donated to Service related charities. The charity chosen on this occasion was Veterans Aid, a charity that is dedicated to helping ex Servicemen who have fallen upon hard times.

I am sure that on reading the letter of thanks (posted below) that we have received from Veterans Aid, you will agree that this has been a very worthy destination for our donation.

As site treasurer, I would like to thank you all on behalf of all the staff of E-Goat for the continued support that you have shown to the site that enables us to make an impact to the lives of those in need.

This letter was actually sent some time ago, but due to a technical error, it was only received this weekend. WE have had an update from the people at Veterans Aid, and the message is:

John, the man we have helped out with you fabulous donation is on 'the mend' but still a bit vulnerable. We are keeping an eye on him.

Once again,

THANK YOU!

It is nice to know that we are doing a little bit of good in these wretched times.

Can I suggest we retain this organisation for next year too, If our £500 is "huge" amount to them they obviously need our help a lot!

That's a touching letter MM.

Now how's about we all get ourselves into gear and get donating to the goat.

This is one of the most wothwhile charities I have seen and I hope that the Goat will continue to support it in one way or another.

Well done the Goat, once again you've proved yourself as standing higher than the rest.

Well done to all the members that is a very inspiring letter amongst all the doom and gloom.

I'd like to add my support to retaining this charity for next year; they do great work and obviously need all the help they can get.

My sentiment exactly...there are many of us who when on old style rates could blow £500 on beer and a happy meal over a weekend in the right company...and yet this paltry sum made a real difference to one of our own through this fantastic little charity that fights the good fight on the increasingly busy streets of the nations capital and beyond.

Not only should we keep them on as this years charity but we should try and give them a bit more this time around...so donate if you can...tell people about the Goat as the more who visit the site and click on adverts and stuff the more we get from goggle adsense...and if you get the chance tell the big boys like H4H/TRBL about Veterans Aid...maybe they'll send them a cheque once they see what they do...

One more thing...when we first contacted VA about supporting them they were very keen for any of us to drop in and say hello if we were in the vicinity...to see what they do and where they do it from...If you fancy saying hello to these very friendly people and perhaps educating yourself to just what sh1t street looks like for some then get in touch and we'll give you the details...we would have liked to have dropped off the cheque personally but the Goat staff seem to be all the busier these days...maybe next time.

I am in full agreement. For this next year I reckon we should help VA.

Incidentally, VA is amongst the charities listed by E-Bay.
I've listed them as the beneficiaries in a number of my own modest transactions.

I encourage others to do likewise if possible.

For my sins, I have been donating 10% of my eBay sales to H4H.....and whilst i know it all helps, i wish I'd been giving to a smaller charity like VA. I'll change it from now on.A touching letter and the sad thing is, there must be thousands out there in the same ****ty boat.I would donate directly, but I think it would be nice to donate through you guys, so how do i do that please?

Truly wonderful to see our donations going to a person! Not only that but a person who used to be one of us, with a future and has fallen on harsh times. I fully agree that we need to continue supporting this very worthwhile charity.

Well done Goaters!

You can make a one off donation HERE (please note that there are issues with the formatting of this page since the site upgrade, but the PayPal link is working fine).

Alternatively you could set up an annual subscription HERE.

Thank you for your support!

Great to see (and hear) that the donations are doing a really good job and helping the people that need it. I would also like to see this charity (VA) kept on for at least another year as it seems to have more of an impact for a smaller charity.

Keep up the good work goaters....every little bit helps and you never know in the future it could be you that needs the help !
