In my 11 years in the mob I've never had any contact with SSAFA, I've never done anything to help them and I've never asked for anything in return. Until now. Those small minded, feckwit, civil servants at DHE are quite happy too see me homeless with the wife, pets and all our belongings on the street for the best part of two weeks because of their inflexible nature and their total lack of customer focus. I swear them dicks think we're here to help them not the other way around. Despite my pleading I got nowhere with them. I had to get my boss to wade in on the situation and even then they weren't any real help, they moved things forward a week but we were still on the street.
Step in my station SSAFA person. They dropped everything they were doing, rang around, cancelled previous bookings considered less of a priority (apologies to those affeceted) and arranged for us to stay in the welfare house until DHE could fit us into their ever so busy schedule. My relief when they got back to me was unmeasurable and I hope that one day I can adequatly do my bit to help you carry on being there for those of us that need a little help every now and again.
