The Newark Patriotic Fund

Ladies and Gentlemen the NPF was set up a few years ago to help the families of injured service men and women in the Newark on Trent region.

We are the only such organisation in the UK and we use the geographical area covered by the local newspaper “Newark Advertiser” as out target area.

Our aim is to support and help the families during their hard times. Some examples of the things that we have done are:

  • Providing transport, sometimes with drivers, to allow family visits to those injured at Birmingham, London, and Plymouth etc.
  • Picking up hotel and travel costs for families.
  • Providing breaks for families (we recently sent a mother and her children to Euro Disney for a well earned break).
  • Supplementing lost earnings (sad as it seems some employers force families to take un-paid leave to visit loved ones. Causing fanatical issues just when families have more import things to worry about).
  • We will also consider meeting other cost such as modifications to houses etc.
We do not want to take away from or eclipse any good work undertaken by Royal British Legion, RAFA, H4H, SAAFA, combat stress etc. We are here to supplement them and fill gaps left by them.

We receive support mainly from many ex-army veterans and we have 5 local soldiers injured in action that we are currently supporting. As we only work in the Newark region I would like to say that any help from Newark e-goaters will be very much appreciated. Its lonely sometimes being the only RAF input, with the exception of a SAC Carl G (MAMS), Sgt Kev B (8 sqn) and Air Cadets Kristian G & Miranda M. All of whom have given their time for the fund. Oh and thanks to the BBMF, who all signed the Hanes Lancaster Manual which raised £70 alone.

Two weeks ago we raised £1700+ in Newark market square. The next event will be soon and it would be nice to see some RAF there, even if you can only spare 5 mins.

If interested, join us on facebook. In fact please spare us 2 minutes and take a gander………..The more publicity we have…..The more chance there is that other towns may set up their own “like-wise” fund. So join us anyway, the more members-the better.:PDT_Xtremez_30:
