Alright, got a question for service and ex-service. I'm seriously considering joining the RAF as a legal officer. I'm currently a second year law undergraduate.
My main concern is with the effect of the armed forces on relationships, i.e. being deployed reducing options to zero in terms of meeting, or straining or destroying an existing relationship (even though I think I'd be based in the UK for the majority of the time?) etc
This is really the make or break for me. I'll be 24 before I can even join which is older than most. The reaction of people I've talked to has often been 'shouldn't you be looking for the future Mrs Tippo then?' Any thoughts?

Really, people are suggesting that you settle down and then sort a career out? Who are these people.

Mate, even at 24 that is still young to be settling down. Do you realise how difficult us women can be to live with????

The longer you stay single, the happier I suspect you will be.

Obviously I jest, but on a serious note, being in the Armed Forces does not preclude you from having a relationship. Some things are made easier for us, than our civilian counterparts (increased financial/job security - although currently that could be debatable) and some things are more difficult (moving around the country/world).

I would however suspect that Legal Officer is a fairly stable role.

If joining up is what you want to do then do it. Simple as that. Then when Mrs Tippo does come along so long as you are clear in your head as to what you want and make it clear to her, then I cannot see any issues.

Edited to add:

You will be suprised at how many "older" recruits there are these days. I didn't join until I was 26 and if I hadn't I wouldn't have met my husband (which could be a good or bad thing depending upon which day you ask).

Sorry when I said 'then' i meant when i'm in my mid-twenties!

me and mrs mmj are both serving members of the RAF and were when we met. I really dont see it as a problem as long as you meet the right person

Do you forsee a situation wherupon you will be unable to spend all your salary yourself, and thus feel obliged to forfeit spending rights on the balance of it in exchange for sex?

If this is the sort of thing that worries you perhaps this isn't the sort of life you want.

You can't plan relationships, they just happen.

If you go to work for a law firm isn't there a greater possibility of working longer hours so even LESS chance of settling down? Atleast this way you can atleast use your rank as a pulling magnet once lmao

Join the RAF and have guteral sex with as many women as possible........ and wrafs, if you fail to meet any female women.

Don't get married until you are about 40 I reckon. Far too much fun to be had..... after all, once they've trapped you with that ring, Blowjobs and Brownwings are out of the window straight away!.

Exactly,

The ONLY relationship you will ever need is with the Royal Air Force.

TW, I think that may have been true in our time....but these days ? FFS it sounds like a fate worse than death these days !!
