They wont give me my Medal. YET!

I got promoted in Sept 2007 and wont be Substansive until Oct 2009 due to the lack of promo courses.
Earlier this year I went to Afghan and upon my return I was told that I can not have my Medal until I am Substansive.
I feel it totally unacceptable to have to wait 16 months to get the medal that I have earned.
I have put my boss on the task and he has told me there is no chance of getting it now.
I am thinking of putting a Redress in, does anyone think this is counter productive, are there any other avenues I should be going down first.
Oh and if that doesn’t work, I was thinking of writing to the Sun!

Sounds like someone is spouting a crock of sihte. If you have qualified for it, you get it (eventually in most cases unless you are a HRH) regardless of rank. As said, go see P1.

As far as I know rank (substansive or not) has fook all to do with medals. Hopefully a helpful shiney will be along soon to sort you out.

If not, then I always advocate a redress as it gets things done and is jolly good fun to see them squirm.

Speaking as an long-time outsider - I came across this problem when I was in and due to get some medals...I waited almost 18 months for mine.

The real Question is - What Rank do you want recorded on your medals?

If you want your old Rank - then you could possibly have them sooner. But if you want your new rank - you may have to wait until you are substansive.

Try more patience - believe it or not some one will have you on a "medals due" list. That is something the military do quite well.
 
Surely the medal was earnt at a certain rank. that rank will be on the medal. If not subby then the rank would be the one previous. Regardless, who gives a s*** what rank is on it. When you qualify you deserve recognition...its all we have in today's RAF!
 
Rank is irrelevant, i've had them whilst acting rank. They are probably saving them so it can be dished out at some AOC's parade.:PDT_Xtremez_09:
