With the award of this contract to Marshalls, can things get any worse for the creaking Trimoters....

HIOS is hardly a success, lets see if TRIOS is...

It's strange how a joke made some years ago turns out to have been predictive (Civilian contractors in place of airmen). Next we'll be hiring Airline pilots to fly when there's trouble. (Like the Spam's Air National Guard).

Bloody sad. . . . . . .

Well we already have reservist aircrew flying now!

Marshalls have been invloved with 3rd ine maint on Tristar for many years!

Why is the contract to provide fuel tank inerting foam a bad thing?

Would you rather it was done at GAMCO as opposed to home territory?

It is not inerting foam, it is inerting nitrogen (similar to what is used on tonka fin tanks)

The bad point is, do Marshalls have the capacity to design and carry out this Mod in anything like a useable timeframe?

Many apologies for my incorrect statement of Foam inertion.( I know what Nitrogen inerting is as well). Perhaps too much crossover of information from the Herc inquest.

Any timeframe will always be too long when the requirement is for yesterday. And the mod is more than likely ready to go pending manpower requirements.

And before anyone goes on and slags civvies at marshalls "who are Sh1t, not skilled, can't do their job, haven't got a clue etc etc" There a loads of ex RAF lads there trying to push kites back out to the Squadron they once served on.

Off TopicThat, leak like a b@stard, system is just being reinstigated now. Crap decision because the system is so sh1te (and always has been) that it will never be effective. Furthermore, the reason given (AFAIK) is because of small arms fire like the cause of the Herc tragedy. Bit bizarre that one, not only because fins tend to be vertical and hard to hit from the ground, unlike wings of slower and larger aircraft.:S

What exactly is the issue with HIOS? Is it bad quality of workmanship, time frames etc. What do you mean when you say that Marshalls coudn't possibly do a worse job?

Why is HIOS so bad?

Genuine questions DS because I don't know what the return to service issues are with HIOS.

Shoddy mods, incomplete mods, fcuked up installations, robs to service foreign aircraft, inability to get a frame out on time....I could go on..

Not to mention the Tristar that is having the "glass cockpit" mod that may never see the light of day again...
