Well, on of my favourite bands of all time have decided to call it a day after 20 years. On Saturday night I was lucky enough to be one of the thousands in a packed, sold out Hammersmith Apollo for the last show on Thunder's last tour before calling it a day. They have a couple of festival appearances booked before finally quitting, but this was their last ever headlining performance.

I don't recall having ever seen such an emotionally charged concert, with the entire audience and band both seeming to be totally fired up to make this a show to remember and to send Thunder out with a bang. The band, as always delivered a fantastic greatest hits set covering their entire 20 year history, wit of course many songs from their 1989 debut album 'Backstreet Symphony'. During 'Love walked in' there must have been a dust storm or something in the venue as there hardly seemed to be a dry eye in the place.

A 2 hour set including an encore, the band finished typically with 'Dirty Love', which had the whole of Hammersmith bouncing. At the end of the show, the band remained on stage for some time soaking up the applause from the audience, and looking somewhat choked to the audience reaction. Hopefully they were sitting in their dressing room afterwards asking themselves why they are disbanding when they obviously still have a very dedicated and loyal following.

I'm certainly looking forward to and hoping there will be a reunion tour some time in the not too distant future.

If you don't know who thunder are, check them out on YouTube or somewhere, they are one of the best, but unfortunately most underated British Rock bands ever!

Blimey....

One of very few live acts I have seen... Monsters of Rock at Donnington, Iron Maiden were headlining supported by The Almighty, Thunder and Skid Row (I only went to see Skid Row and The Almighty and was napping in the car for Iron Maiden!!).

They came on to Thunderstruck (I know it's not theirs but none the less..) and played an amazing set...RIP fella's!!

That would have been 1992, I was there also.

That was Thunder's 2nd Monsters of Rock appearance, their first being in 1990 where they opened and went down extremely well with the crowd (I was at that one too).

They still opened their set with AC/DC Thunderstruck right up until the current day.

Thought some of their old videos might be good.

And an absolute classic

Must have just missed each other then, sounds like the Monsters of Rock was full of Goaters!
I personally saw Thunder 3 times over the years, and they never failed to please. Top band, great music, shame this was their swansong. I wouldn't have minded making a fourth trip out for them.
