Mr Gb going for Orficer prom, My question is he to old at 39 to be applying as I have spoken to other RAF bod pals who seem to think he is...

Bit thin on the info

Most branches run out at 36, is he in service already, if so there may be other limits.

he is but I have been told different age limits by various peeps, its his 3rd attempt at trying

Busby, as ever, is correct however exceptional approval may be given if Mr GB is an exceptional candidate. Go directly to the AFCO who would conduct the P2 filter interview who should be able to assist. Good luck.

Can't really see him being classed as "exceptional" if this would be his 3rd attempt can you ?

Sometimes you have to accept things in life and move on.

Tashy you cynical old goat, I know many a good zob who took more than one attempt to get through the system. Besides, Mr GB may have applied as a snotty SAC 10 years ago, as a bitter twisted JT 15 years ago and now having moved units and gained a rank or so he may be truly exceptional. Point being he'll never know unless he tries. After all, is he's doing a GWAR then he must be ok.

I think it may be you who has his knickers twisted, mate.
An SAC 10 years ago, and a J/T 15 years ago???

Doesn't compute.:PDT_Xtremez_31:

Agree with the GWAR bit tho'...............!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Fair call Grumps :S Thats too long reading the 98 million page thread on TG1 pay! I meant the other way around :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Tell him to go for it. After all, it'll be his last chance to sleep with an occifer's wife!! :PDT_Xtremez_30:

He'll do no such thing , :0 not unless he wants to have his bollocks chopped off:PDT_Xtremez_31: I have got my fingers crossed that its third time lucky tho. as it seems he keeps getting knocked back

He is probably not too old, as you are aware the age limits for serving airman/women are different for direct entrants generally a lot higher. Call OASC direct they should help him as he in the service. He is poss to old for an aircrew cat unless he is already NCA, but that is different set of regs.
What he has got to aware of (so it does not bite him in the arse later) is what his particular terms of service will be once he is commissioned.
e.g.
How long he will be a flying officer for?
What his pay will be on completion of IOT and there after?
What will his length of service be (This will POSS be to 55 fro ex SA)?
And how will his pension be effected?
Etc.

He needs to speak with someone at manning (it used to be PMA8b) for these answers.

Off Topic
To you, could you cope will him being assimilated to the borg, cos he will change, they all do. And a posting every 18 months/2 years as a JO.

Having said all that. There has never been a better time for going to a commission for serving airmen/women.:PDT_Xtremez_32:
