I hope to god he takes them down...I'd laugh my nob off to see them turn on Shearer

Don't think they will turn on him, not this season at least, with so few games left he can't ruin his reputation. If they stay up his god like status will be enhanced, if they go down it won't be his fault, to few games, injury list etc etc etc. However if they do go down with Shearer at the helm then a few on here would be very pleased, Capt Slog, Albert Park to name but two. Ghandi's flip flop will be somewhat less pleased I feel.

Well Albert Park would be a case of pot calling the kettle black as 'Boro are already gone and until they are assured of their own safety I can imagine the Mackem's are gonna be quiet ,as they are on a downward spiral too. There are still a few twists to the relegation story yet to come I think.

As has already been said before Shearer is in a no lose situation as he only has 8 games. The true people to blame for the sorry state the club is currently in are mainly at boardroom level. ALthough there are far too many players who need shipping out this summer, just hope we're still in the Prem when they receive their P45's

However if he takes them down, and is still there next year and doesn't come up...oh happy days..

The irony of April the 1st!

What on Earth is going on at that club? You've got 8 games to save your PL bacon and its a tough run in.
I know! Lets choose a bloke whose never coached before and back him up with an assistant who has been sacked at every club he's been at. Genius!

Well, I suppose Roy of the Rovers wasn't available.:PDT_Xtremez_42:

Toon-Championship bound.

Well yes I suppose Dowie has been sacked at a few clubs although not all, The one in question would be the club he turned from almost certain candidates for the drop into play off winners. I can't imagine Simon Jordan would have sued him if he'd been sacked. As for Shearer having no experience of management would you like to tell me how you gain experience without first going out there and getting a job. Plenty have managed top clubs or even international teams without previous experience Beckenbauer, Klinnsman, Rikjaard to name but a few. If you are so sure he is destined to fail why comment on it? You'll be able to do your usuall sit and gloat which i'm sure will make those cold nights in your Liverpool slums that bit happier

As for appointing Shearer, the situation at the club now is such that If the board hadn't acted we were definitely down. The players have no belief in themselves, and while Hughton and Calderwood may be good coaches they seem incapable of influencing things on the pitch come match day. (Most fans would argue that this is infact a skill Kinear could only manage 1 half a match)

Most fans I know up here in exile in the frozen north were resigned to the fact we were going down a week ago and generally worried what would happen to the club after that eventuality. Mike Ashley seems unprepared to safeguard his investment while we're in the Premiership (we've made a net profit every window he's been owner) what would happen if we dropped down a tier.

Now, however we maybe have a glimmer of hope that we might just manage to pull off the great escape. Hopefully this belief has also carried accross to the players and unlike what we saw under Kinnear we'll actually see an upturn in results after the appointment of a new manager. Also there is a vain hope that maybe Ashley has learned from some of the mistakes he's made since taking over and that the club can start moving in the right direction again. The exit of Wise hopefully being a clear indication of this fact.

As a long suffering fan I can but hope, who knows next season maybe we can secure mid table mediocrity without resorting to Spurs level of spending. That would represent genuine progress from the gradual decline the club has been in since the poorly handled sacking of Sir Bobby Robson. Still things could be worse I could be a scouse mackem sitting their envious that our biggest rivals might just be about to pull of winning the league Championship. Thankfully it'll be a cold day in hell before us Newcastle fans have to worry about facing a similar situation.

Have you ever seen a Mackem in Milan?

Touch a nerve did I?:PDT_Xtremez_42:

Enjoy telling Barnsley, Swansea and Plymouth you're a "massive club us like!"
Liverpool slums? From a dweller of somewhere where the general populace have difficulty washing their own hands after using the toilet? I'm guessing the irony has passed you by?
By the way, its an open forum fella, don't be amazed when people come to stop and stare at the PL car crash comedy spectacle that is your club.
Championship bound. Bye bye.

You can't buy Irony fella, neither can you scousers steal it. As for that little survey it was done on the Kings Cross to Newcastle train so i'd suspect a fair number of the passengers were from the allegedly glorious capital or other stops along the way. They tried a similar experiment on the west coast mainline but a train never arrived on time. Maybe propped up on bricks after the driver forgot to pay protection money to the wonderfull Merseyside kids.

As for championship bound, possibly but i bet we still get bigger gates than yourselves and I don't see your lot challenging for honours anytime soon either.

I'll just have to console myself with another year of european football and a trip to Wembley.
Watch those gates drop off in the championship.
There is a downside though. Who will we have to laugh at in the PL?

We have a decent record against them at St James' but the same used to be said of Liverpool, Arsenal etc too and that seems to have evaporated over the last few seasons.

Maybe we should do what Glen Roeder did and field the youth team defence, can't do any worse than the current first team defenders. Maybe Edgar can chip in with a few more timely goals too.

On a more serious note I think the best we can hope for even with the atmosphere being the way it will be tomorrow is a draw, Chelsea as a rule have been fantastic on their travels this season. Its their home form that has killed them.

Not talking about tactics ... Talking about a massive crowd cos a geordie Lej is incharge. The volume and atmosphere, and players thinking 'Oh 5hit best I really perform". Mr Shearer has a certain presence ?

Oh I agree we've certainly more of a chance than we did if Hughton and Calderwood were still in charge. And I suppose CHelsea won't do what Bolton did for Keegan's return and park in front of their goal.

Right ... I`ve drawn " Arteea " in the National sweep 200/1 ... bollox.

So, it doesn`t happen often but a Smoggie is cheering on the Mags.

I need a 3 : 1 win for the Toon to recoup my stakes ...

Whats the difference between Alan Shearer and Newcastle Utd?

Shearer will still be on match of the day next season...

I'm here all week..

Theres still 5 games left with an easy 3 pointer at Ainfield girls. Not over till the fat lady sings and all that says the ever optmistic geordie in me. Wonder what'll happen to Ashley if we do go down mind. He'll probably be killed with fire. Old school witch burning by the masses with pitchforks and that.
