A quick question for any scribblies out there following an equiry by one of my lads at work.

I have a Cpl in my section who has been in his current post for 2 years now. It has been agreed by the TG11 trade desk and with the Squadron that they, the Squadron, have him for a minimum of 3 years. He has recently asked his line manager if extending could be possible and it has been verbally agreed.

My question is how or what formal procedure does he need to follow to inform the trade desk of his wish to extend? He has been informed recently in the past that the desk will not deal with him directly by phone. Would an email to the desk be sufficent or is there a more formal approach for his request?

Ensure that his preferences on JPA read, RAF - No Move and if you're on an Apollo unit speak to the relevant scribbly intermediary to convey his preference, to extend on the sqn, to the desk. Unless there's an abundance of personnel desperate to get onto the sqn I suspect the CM will have no issues.

Thanks Humble, and yes we are on an Apollo unit. He does have RAF - No Move active on his JPA preferences but I will direct him towards our Sqn Shiny (a Sgt) who should be able to sort out his request on his behalf to the CM. Like you stated previously, I also think that the CM should'nt have a problem with this request as this posting is not exactly attracting many volunteers at the moment.
