Does anyone know if the open door policy is still in place as my trade desk doesn't answer the phone at all in the afternoon.....several of us have tried but not getting anywhere.

As we have a Army WO1 as chief clerk getting him to phone up in the morning is a non-starter as he isn't interested/tells us to ask the RAF adminer when she gets back in (currently on det till early April!)

Any info appreciated.

Not naming the desk out of politeness incase they're off sick or something! :PDT_Xtremez_26:

It is still available, but I believe that it's now only for sgts and above (project Apollo...?). However, I'm sure your drafter will be sympathetic when you tell him/her you have an Army chf clk.
If you need an urgent answer, the trade desk WOs are always happy to take calls, and you can ring them at any time; I have just visited Air Manning and was told that face to face, so feel free to quote me if they give you a hard time!

what like.........'Mightierthan', from e-Goat said.....

It's not urgent enough to annoy a WO with, will have to keep trying and hope that I get hold of them eventually then play dumb about Project Apollo..........shouldn't be too difficult for those that know me! :PDT_Xtremez_29:

Who? I have same trade desk as you and I had to contact him fairly recently (within last 4 months). I did e-mail first 'cause he never answered the phone but after 2 weeks he didn't get back to me. Was only when I finally did get through to him (I genuinely didn't know about Apollo at the time) that he fobbed me off with the old, 'yeah, yeah, I got your e-mail, I've been working on your case, honest'.

In all fairness, after that he was very helpfull; I no longer live in the ar5e of Britain!! :PDT_Xtremez_30:

With regards to Op Appolo, I was told that it is only in effect on some camps on a trial basis though don't remember which ones.

I am reading this thread in a state of fcuking shock! Where the hell is your trade’s accountability? If the techie trades operated like that we would never get the aircraft in the air and if they did fly then they would probably crash soon after!

Can you imagine the outbound to Kandybar, with 200 troops on board getting a lecky snag on departure…….they call for a lecky and either a) we don’t answer the phone for a month or b) we answer and tell them the leckies are away but will be back in fcuking April!

Different fcuking planet you lot. Is it because you are only dealing with peoples emotions instead of their ‘lives’ that you get away with fcuking murder!

PS Sorry for invading your shinny space but I like it…..its soft and fluffy and not at all like the real world.

To be fair, drafters are not a proper example of the trade. Most of the trade are in a customer services environment and do try to provide a service where the needs of the customer comes first. Drafters have a huge raft of guidelines but only one rule: the needs of the service come first. This gives them carte blanche to deal with people as they see fit as there can be no comeback. Sad but true.

Fair call Mightierthan, I appreciate the light you have shed on the matter and rescind the vast majority of my rant, along with a relevant apology.

I shall now withdraw from your forum (tail between legs) and paint the garden fence.

I always thought my drafters were actually the trade they represent. Im sure my drafter told me he was a Mech.

Off Topic
I wouldn't bother mate, I just looked outside and its about to rain!!!

Every time I have dealt with my desk they have been fair and straight down the line, they haven't always been able to accommodate my needs but I accepted this and took a bum posting on the chin, unlike many others I know. I think the Sqn Warrant is normally the best person to sort out your needs, 9 times out of 10 they will get a better outcome from manning than SAC blogs ringing up. I know the drafters are extremely busy so I will be happy when the open door shuts given the more time to concentrate on our requirements.

Its a shame they don't send anybody from ACOS to IMLC to brief all SNCO's on the role of the desk staff and the normal procedures of boarding etc, this would quickly cascade across the service if they did. I know that the Warrants course (possibly the AMLC too) have a visit to Manning at High Wycombe.

Nope, they are all Human Resource experts.

Firstly Off TopicToo late I've started!!

Secondly, Bit of confusion here. So what are they Human Resource experts

or Shinnys.........they can't be both!!

Anyway I'm back to the fence............with my brolly.
