Ey up lads/lasses! I supposed to joining the RAF in may as lazyonics tech! im currently a time served crap airframe and mech systems fitter with 8 years under me belt, but wouldnt mind also doing a bit of avionics for a switch. Been a contractor it made me realise what a **** been a sheetie/fitter/mech really can be and obtaining work, plus i joined bae only to be told i were been made a fitter and not a avio fitter, bit gutted but now have the chance to change! afco told me i would have to go back to "shut up and file that steel" class at cosford for my nvq l2, but no big deal should be a breeze......but knowin my fitting skills :PDT_Xtremez_42:!!! I was just wounder what really happens after cosford on the flight lines been a fresh egg? is it just marshall duties and general servicing duties? and is the Avionics course just a waste of time in the raf? ive been gerrin mixed signals at the mo? dont get me wrong i wanna go in the raf, im just beginging to think if it might be a bit waste if i cant obtain the avionics certs and maybe go on for a b2?

any thoughts? cheers!

And perhaps you'd like to try that again only in English next time!

Don't be thinking you can join the mob as a quick way to getting JAR-66 licences. Unless you're very lucky, maintenance in the MAE (Military Air Environment) doesn't count and isn't recognised.

ah you'll have to excuse me lax english on these, i type too quick and never really back up to check the spelling or grammer. Understandable on the B2, i was going to study the modules myself, however reading some other posts on various site about avionics in the raf, they have been pointing out that the actual experience the lads are getting and the under-pinning knowledge of diagnostics/falut finding are been lost or wasted by a poor system ect.........

I'm not in the RAF anymore, but...

1. I wouldn't want anyone working for me that didn't check their work before sending it or completing it. Your first Posts on e-goat indicate:
a) a lack of communication skills,
b) a lack of care and
c) undeserved confidence.

2. It seems that you are planning your exit from the RAF before actually joining up?

3. You don't seem too bothered about learning new (avionic) skills at whatever level, in any case.

4. Given the attitude portrayed in these posts, you seem to think that you know all about "been" a fitter. May I remind you that there are no longer any Fitters in the RAF. From May, if you do join, you will be given training in the trade and standards of work you will be required to perform. I am going to assume that whether you make it through that training will be interesting - but more interesting for your instructors!

What rigga is trying to say is, the RAF prefers it's techies not to be mongs!

What 8.15 from Odium is saying is, as you appear to be a mong join as a shiney as they get paid the same as techie gods and they are all allowed to be mongs.

I hope this helps.

Pleeeeeease don't re-join as an Av......or any sort of techy for that matter.

In fact, further to previous recommendations, please don't join as a shiney either. I like my pay to arrive in the same calendar year, let alone month.

Please don't go for a catering job, I generally like to enjoy my food and not get ill after a meal.

Please don't become a stacker. I generally like to receive the correct item demanded and within some sort of decent timeframe!

Please don't go for Fireman, I like to think that if there ever IS a fire on a RAF unit, the guys will actually give a **** about putting it out.

PLeeease don't go for Regiment. For all the **** they get, it's good to know we have a good bunch outside the wire keeping Terry taliban away.

All is not lost though........why not go for aircrew? :PDT_Xtremez_30:

I'm with Monty on this one. The OP sounds like a Pongo on a fishing trip. Or indeed with his grasp of the English language and grammar, at the very least he should consider joining the Army.

I'm in agreement with previous posters that this is a fishing trip. No doubt from a pongo with non-opposable thumbs, a neanderthal cranial ridge and a helpful Mum or carer.

I disagree. With crap spelling, awful grammar and lack of ability to make any sense whatsoever, he sounds just like most riggers I know to be honest.:PDT_Xtremez_14:

That makes sense actually as most Rigpigs often fail to operate computer keyboards to an adequate standard due to all the calluses on their knuckles from dragging them on the ground.......

Anything to keep them away from aircraft.

Only because their brains operate faster than the puny processors in military IT, once the feed is by telepathy you won't see them for dust. Although most will them be arrested for exposing their inner thoughts.
